Instructions on setting Initial Internet Browser Settings Below are instructions for setting up your initial browser settings with Netscape and Internet Explorer. Netscape To use FASS-PHA, the Internet browser must be set to accept cookies. A “cookie” is a file automatically stored on the user’s computer. The brower’s cache options must also be adjusted to the appropriate setting. To set the browser to accept cookies: 1. From the desktop, double-click on your Internet browser (e.g., Netscape). The initial page displays. The Hudweb main page is shown as an example. 2. Click on Edit on the menu bar, at the top of the tab page, to view the list of edit options. 3. Click on the Preferences option to select it. The Preferences settings window displays. 4. Click on Advanced in the Category list to select it. The Advanced preferences settings window displays. 5. Under the Cookies heading, click on the “Accept all cookies” radio button to select it. 6. Click on the plus sign next to Advanced in the category list. The sub-options display below it. 7. Click on Cache under the Advanced category list. The Cache preferences settings window displays. 8. Under the Cache preferences window, click on the “Every time” radio button to select it. 9. Click on the button to continue. Internet Explorer To use FASS-PHA, the Internet browser must be set to update after every visit to the page. To set the browser to update after every visit: 1. From the desktop, double-click on your Internet browser (e.g., Internet Explorer). The initial page displays. The Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer main page is shown as an example. 2. Click on Tools on the menu bar, at the top of the tab page, to view the list of Tools options 3. Click on Internet Options to select it. The Internet Options window displays with the General tab showing. 4. Under the Temporary Internet files section, click on the “Settings…” button to select it. The Settings window displays. 5. Make sure that the “Every visit to the page” radio button is selected under the “Check for newer versions of stored pages” heading. 6. Click on the button to continue..
