Design and Development Following applications have been developed under ‘e-Granthalaya Project’ – an Internal/In-house project of NIC, for Indian Libraries: e-Granthalaya: A Digital Agenda for Library Automation and Networking eGLibNet.Gov.in : A Union Catalog of Libraries powered by e-Granthalaya hosted in NIC Server and accessible at http://eglibnet.gov.in e-Granthalaya is a Library Management Software which is very useful for computerization of library activities and user services. Photo Gallery and few more web pages were added in the site. News published on e-Granthalaya were also uploaded at this web site. Fig.2: Visitors Statistics during 2015 3. e-Granthalaya Discussion Forum During 2013, we have launched ‘e-Granthalaya Discussion Forum’ for submitting users queries online where any other user can provide answer/solution to the problem. Earlier all the users were sending queries to us only – it has minimized requirements of support from e-Granthalaya Team upto 50%. During the year 2015 – over 200 Queries were submitted by the users with multiple answers from many of the users themselves. Fig.4 : e-Granthalaya Discussion Forum 4. Union Catalog of Libraries powered by e-Granthalaya – Statistics 2015 A New kind of service was launched from NIC for the benefits of Indian libraries in general and users of e-Granthalaya specifically. Under the services, a Union Catalog of libraries which are using e-Granthalaya software has been hosted in NIC Server and available in public domain at http://www.eglibnet.gov.in . Besides, a home page is provided to each member library to host/search its own catalog with an individual web URL. Later, some APIs will be added in the site to integrate this service with the libraries parent organization web site. No. of Libraries’ data/catalog hosted in NIC Server: 327 No. of Total Catalog Records hosted: 20.15 Lakh No of Holdings/Copies records hosted: 36.50 Lakh No of Registered Users: 808 During 2014, an Inter Library Loan facilty was added where registered users can search the books and then can generate/send online ILL request to the holding library.
