Oklahoma County, Oklahoma DESCRIPTION Douglass High School is an example of Classical Revival style, red brick school building located in northeast Oklahoma City. The original building was constructed in 1910 and was called Lowell School. Designed by the architectural firm of Layton, Smith & Hawk, this original building was two stories in height on a raised basement and had a rectangular footprint. Subsequent additions were constructed in 1919, 1934 and 1948, matching materials and style. Layton, Smith & Hawk were the architects of the 1919 addition, while Layton Hicks & Forsyth
