Morgan ran his pitch count up to 76 thanks to two walks and several deep counts. The right-hander also struck out six. Lake County’s offense plated six runs in a monster third inning to win, 7-2. AMONG THE BEST: Morgan leads all Midwest League starters with a 13.80 K/9 rate. He is also second in the league in strikeouts with 23 (Fort Wayne’s Nick Margevicius has 24). LAST SEASON: Morgan made his professional debut with the Short Season Mahoning Valley Scrappers after being drafted by the Indians in the eighth round. Over 13 appearances (five starts), the right-hander was among the best pitchers at his level. Morgan led all of Short Season baseball (minimum 20 IP) with a 42.3 K% and a 35.8 K-BB%.
