Fowler Ave., ATH 100 • Tampa, FL 33620 • Office: 813/974-2125 • Fax: 813/974-5328 THE GAME BOWL GAME USF (7-5, 3-4 BIG EAST) The University of South Florida (7-5, 3-4 BIG EAST) will play in its vs. sixth consecutive bowl game when it travels to Charlotte, N.C. to take Clemson (6-6, 4-4 BIG EAST) on Clemson (6-6, 4-4 ACC) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Friday, vs. Dec. 31. This will mark the Bulls second trip to play in the Meineke Bank of America Stadium (73,778) Car Care Bowl. They made their first-ever bowl appearance in the Fri., Dec. 31 (Time: 12 p.m. EST/TV: ESPN) 2005 game, dropping a 14-0 decision to N.C. State.USF finished the regular season winning four of their last six games. With a bowl victory, the Bulls would extend their streak of consecutive TELEVISION - ESPN eight-win seasons to five. Clemson also will be playing in its sixth consecutive bowl game. This will mark the first meeting Carter Blackburn, play-by-play Mike Bellotti, analyst between the two schools. Brock Huard, analyst Shannon Spake, sidelines THE BROADCASTS RADIO - ISP The game will be televised nationally on ESPN. Carter Blackburn (play-by-play), Mike Bellotti (analyst), Brock Huard (analyst) and Local Broadast - WFLA 970 AM (Tampa) Shannon Spake (sidelines) will have the call. USF’s radio broadcast with Jim Louk, Mark Robinson and Mike Pepper can be heard Jim Louk, play-by-play Mark Robinson, analyst on 13 affiliates statewide and nationally on Sirius satellite radio channel 158. In addition, 1300 WQBN will broadcast the game Mike Pepper, sideline Jim Lighthall, co-host in Spanish with David Cuevas and Angel Rodriguez behind the microphones. The Bulls overall winning percentage of 62.2 ranks 18th among FBS schools in USF/ISP Radio Affiliates all-time winning percentage. In addition, the Bulls have posted an 82-49 (.626) record since joining the FBS in 2000. Their Sirius Channel Ch. 158 winning percentage of .630 (76-43) from 2000-09 ranked 26th nationally over that time span. USF joined the BIG EAST in 970 WFLA -- Tampa Bay Flagship 660 WORL -- Orlando 2005 and is one of only six schools that has made a bowl appearance in every season as a BCS league member, joining Florida, 1300 WQBN -- Tampa (Spanish) 1590 WPSL -- Port St. Lucie Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. It also is the only school since 1998 to join a BCS member conference 1450 WWJB -- Brooksville 640 WMEN -- Royal Palm Beach and make a bowl appearance every year (2005-09). 1380 WELE -- Daytona Beach 1220 WSRQ -- Sarasota 1460 WZEP -- Defuniak Springs 1450 WSTU -- Stuart BOWL STREAK 1320 WBOB -- Jacksonville 93.3 WGWD -- Tallahassee Thanks to a 7-5 record during the regular season, USF is heading to a bowl game for the sixth consecutive season. The Bulls are 3-2 in 770 WWCN -- North Fort Myers their previous five bowl games, including victories in each of the last two seasons. Last year, USF defeated Northern Illinois, 27-3, in the International Bowl. In 2008, the Bulls cruised past Memphis, 41-14, in the MajicJack St. Pete Bowl. Prior to 2008, USF fell to Oregon, 56-21, in the 2007 Brut Sun Bowl, won the 2006 Papajohns.com Bowl, 24-7, over East Carolina and dropped the 2005 Meineke Car Care (Game location) USF COACHES Bowl, 14-0, against N.C. Ends scoreboard late in games. The Bulls defense has not allowed a point in the fourth quarter of its five bowl games. The only score in the Todd Fitch (Box) Offensive Coord. - Running Backs five games came on an INT return by Oregon in the 2007 Sun Bowl. Collectively, the group has helped USF Peter Vaas (Field) Quarterbacks to a 32-19 record over the last four years. The class’ 32 victories are tied for the second most in USF history with the 2008 class Steve Bird Graduate Assistant/Offense (32-19) behind the four-year victory record of 34 set by last year’s senior class (34-18). The group has gone 17-8 at Raymond Marcus Patton Graduate Assistant/Defense James Stadium and 7-2 against teams from the state of Florida. This senior class is bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive year, Joe Sloan Offensive Quality Control GA having gone 2-1 in the three previous bowl games. The group has combined to play in 602 games (275 starts).
