Tulsa Golf Quick Facts √ The Tulsa women golfers will be at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, Feb. 16-18, in Head Coach: Annie Young, 2nd year New Orleans, La., for their next event. Assistant Coach: Eric Moore, 1st year The tournament, featuring some of the nation's top teams, will be played at the English First Year of the Program: 1974-75 Turn Golf and Country Club. The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for 18 holes each day Tournament Titles: 101 on the par-72, 6,200-yard course. AIAW, 1982 NCAA, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, √ The Tulsa women’s golf team opened the spring season with a 3rd place finish in a 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1996, 1997, 6-team field at the SMU/DAC Invitational on Monday, Feb. 3, at the par-72 Dallas Athletic Club 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 golf course. Regional Appearances (17, since1993): 1994, Tulsa carded an opening round 325, but shot 23 strokes better in second round action for 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, a 627 total. The Hurricane had four players finish among the top-20 and three in the top-15. 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, Sophomore Lorena Tseng had the best performance in 7th place with a 153 total, followed by 2011, 2012 National Championships: (4) fellow sophomore Sammy Liu with a 157 total, as Liu improved 15 strokes from first to second 1980 AIAW, 1982 AIAW, 1982 NCAA, round action with a score of 71. 1988 NCAA Junior Haley Greb placed 13th overall with a 158 total and freshman Lilly Thomas finished National Runner-up Finishes: (5) in 18th place at 161. 1976 AIAW, 1977 AIAW, 1983 NCAA, 1985 NCAA, 1989 NCAA National Championship Medalists: BRUSHING OFF THE COBWEBS . She tallied a 7th place finish in Tulsa's first spring tournament. She has been Tulsa's 27-29 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown 7th/18 top performer in 5 of 6 events this year. Spring 2020 In five fall tournaments, Tseng was Tulsa's top finisher in four events and placed among FEBRUARY the top-10 in each of those four tournaments. THE NEWCOMERS . 30-31 The Bruzzy Argyle, Texas √ Tulsa has 3 newcomers this year, including one transfer and two freshmen. The transfer APRIL is junior Haley Greb from Colorado State and true freshmen Lilly Thomas and Alex Christeson. 19-21 The American Championship Palm Coast, Fla. MAY Greb and Christeson have had the best finish among the newcomers this year with 13th 11-13 NCAA Regional TBA place performances. Christeson placed 13th at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational in the 18-23 NCAA Championship Scottsdale, Ariz. fall, while Greb had a 13th place finish in the spring-opening SMU/DAC Invitational. Thomas' best finish was 18th place at the SMU/DAC Invitational in the spring. 2019-20 Tulsa Golf Roster Thomas had the best fall stroke average among the Name Ht. Class Hometown / Previous School newcomers with a 76.4 average in 12 rounds, followed Alex Christeson 5-6 Fr-HS Livermoore, Calif. / Granada HS by Greb at 77.3. Appearances √ Tulsa head coach Annie Young appointed Eric Moore, a native of Owasso, Okla., as assistant 1974-75 no appearance women’s golf coach this past January. 1975-76 AIAW - RUNNER-UP Previously, Moore spent seven seasons as the head men’s golf coach at West Texas A&M. In his 1976-77 AIAW - RUNNER-UP tenure at A&M, his teams set 12 different school records in the 2017-18 season, had nine Academic 1977-78 AIAW - 8th place All-Americans and made the school’s first appearance at the National Championship in 2015. 1978-79 AIAW - 3rd place Before that, Moore was the head golf coach at Our Lady of the Lakes University in San Antonio, 1979-80 AIAW - CHAMPIONS Texas. Under his guidance, the Saints made three consecutive appearances in the NAIA Men’s Golf 1980-81 AIAW - 4th place Championship. 1981-82 AIAW - CHAMPIONS Moore earned All-America honors as a junior and senior at Northeastern State (Okla.) University. NCAA - CHAMPIONS 1982-83 NCAA - RUNNER-UP TULSA TURNS IN BEST FALL FINISH AT MARILYNN SMITH/SUNFLOWER INVITE . 1983-84 NCAA - 6th place √ The Tulsa golf team played in five fall tournaments and turned in their best performance at the 1984-85 NCAA - RUNNER-UP Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational with a 3rd place finish. 1985-86 NCAA - 5th place The Hurricane scored rounds of 297-298-292 for an 887 total score, while fiveTulsa golfers placed 1986-87 individual appearance among the top-25. Sophomore Lorena Tseng led the way with a 9th place finish, while junior Taylor by Melissa McNamara Dobson and freshman Alex Christeson placed in a 13th-place tie, and junior Haley Greb finished in 1987-88 NCAA - CHAMPIONS 24th place. 1988-89 NCAA - RUNNER-UP In addition, sophomore Jasmine Zhang played as an individual and finished in 21st place. 1989-90 NCAA - 5th place 1990-91 NCAA - 9th place TSENG BACK AFTER SENSATIONAL FRESHMAN SEASON . 1991-92 individual appearances √ Lorena Tseng returned this year for her sophomore season after turning in a sensational fresh- by Terri Thompson, man campaign in 2018-19. Sofie Eriksson Here's Tseng's freshman season highlights: 1992-93 DNP due to track • Was the first Tulsa player since 2013 to make the NCAA Regional field probation • Earned all-conference honors 1993-94 NCAA - 9th place • Placed among the top-15 in eight of 11 tournaments, including seven top-10 finishes. 1994-95 NCAA Regional • Her top-10 finishes included one 1st place finish, one 2nd place, two third place performances, 1995-96 NCAA - 10th place one 4th place, a 9th and 10th place finish. 1996-97 NCAA - 8th place • In 33 rounds of golf, Tseng had 10 sub-70 rounds as well as 17 rounds of even-par or below, 1997-98 NCAA - 6th place while turning in a 72.1 stroke average this season. 1998-99 NCAA - 6th place • Had a team-best 72.18 stroke average in 33 rounds for the second-best average for aTulsa golfer 1999-00 NCAA - 16th place in the 45-year history of the program. Four-time All-American Stacy Prammanasudh had a 72.09 aver- 2000-01 NCAA - 10th place age in 33 rounds in 2001-02 and LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez tallied a 72.52 stroke average in 21 2001-02 NCAA - 12th place rounds during the 1976-77 campaign. 2002-03 NCAA - 21st place • Became the first Tulsa freshman since Kristina Merkle in the 2009-10 season to place among the 2003-04 NCAA Regional top-5 in her first two collegiate events. 2004-05 NCAA - 23rd place • Became only the 5th golfer to finish among the top-5 in their first two collegiate tournaments in 2005-06 NCAA Regional the 45-year history of the women's golf program.
