Current Expense Supplement Definition Page The Per Pupil Expenditure calculation was revised for the 2000-2001 Annual Statistical Report. It is calculated using the formula required by the National Center for Education Statistics for state reporting purposes. This calculation differs from the formula used in the 1999-2000 Annual Statistical Report. The 1999-2000 “Current Expense per ADA” formula excluded all federal expenditures, activity expenditures, food service expenditures and all building fund expenditures. Some adult education expenditures were included. The actual 2000-2001 data was recalculated using the 1999-2000 formula. The 1999-2000 “Current Expense per ADA Including Other Federal Funds” added Title I and Title VI expenditures to the “Current Expense per ADA” formula. The actual 2000-2001 data was recalculated using this formula. The 2000-2001 Per Pupil Expenditure formula used in the Annual Statistical Report included some federal funds such as: the HIPPY Program, Carl Perkins Vocational Education funds, Goals 2000, Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities, and the Eisenhower Math Science Project. The amount of activity expenditures and food service expenditures greater than the activity and food service revenues received for these programs were included as well as building fund expenditures for supplies, repairs, and purchased services. The National Center for Education Statistics Instruction Manuals and Fiscal Manuals used by the Department in calculating Per Pupil Expenditures are available at the following website: http://nces.ed.gov/ccd/ccresources.html.
