Section of Brighton Main Line to Close for Engineering Work

Check before you travel this Sunday due to engineering work on the Brighton Main Line Jan 29, 2020 14:50 GMT Section of Brighton Main Line to close for engineering work Govia Thameslink Railway and Network Rail are reminding passengers that the Brighton Main Line will be closed between South Croydon and Redhill on Sunday, 2 February. Network Rail will be working on the switches and crossings at Stoats Nest Junction near Purley. These are the moveable rail sections that guide trains from one track to another and this work will support ongoing reliability, reducing the risk of defects on the crossings. To do this requires a closure of all the lines in the area. Passengers travelling between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport are recommended to use diverted Southern trains that will run via Clapham Junction, Horsham and Three Bridges. Rail replacement buses will run between East Croydon and Redhill, East Grinstead, and Gatwick Airport and between East Croydon and Tattenham Corner. There will be no Gatwick Express trains and Thameslink services will terminate at London King’s Cross or East Croydon.
