You Knead Is Dough / About Te Chef PIZZA’S CULINARY MASTER “Daniele Uditi was raised in Naples and in Caserta, Italy, among a family of bakers; in Los Angeles, he mines the sweet spot between tradition and innovation.” - Los Angeles Times He began his career in the industry at the age of 12, cleaning the pizza ovens and baking loaves of bread with his aunt at the family bakery before school each morning. In 2010, Daniele traveled to the United States to work as a consulting chef for various Italian restaurants in the Los Angeles area. During this time, Daniele began making pizzas for private parties. It all began at Chris and Caroline O’Donnell’s Sunday night pizza parties. It was at their home that the Nelsons met Daniele and where the idea for Pizzana, his Neapolitan pizza restaurant, was first born. Chefs, food critics and celebrities rave about his pizza. The late Jonathan Gold once compared his signature Margherita pizza to one of the best in the world, placing him in Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants in Los Angeles. / Episode 1 ONE DOUGH, FOUR WAYS. PIZZA, REIMAGINED In Episode 1, Daniele will take it back to the basics by showcasing his method of making the best dough imaginable and cooking it in four unique ways with a few hacks along the way. All You Knead Is Dough / Episode 2 FARMERS MARKET ESSENTIALS. Our pilot takes place in the kitchen; however, this series has so much potential beyond that. We want to showcase Daniele sourcing high-quality ingredients and the stories behind them from shop to cook. We follow Daniele to a local farmers market in Los Angeles, catching up with some of the local vendors he uses for his restaurant, Pizzana. We then transition to the kitchen where Daniele shows viewers how to make easy and delicious pizzas using just a few high-quality ingredients. Daniele shows viewers unconventional ways to make pizza using everyday items in the kitchen. / Animation Sequences STORYTELLING, IMAGINED CHARACTER ANIMATION TO SUPPORT OUR STORIES Throughout each episode we will incorporate character animation to support Daniele’s storytelling in and out of the kitchen. Sign / Episode 3 MEXICAN FIESTA. FROM TACO CRAWL TO TACO PIZZA. Daniele has been going on Taco Crawls throughout Los Angeles with chef friends like Joe Sasto in search of the best tacos in LA. We will begin Episode 3 by following Daniele and guests of the show taste testing the best tacos in LA, exploring the various flavors they have to offer. Daniele will then bring his research into the kitchen by developing various forms of Taco Pizza for viewers to try at home. All You Knead Is Dough / Episode 4 WOOD-FIRED. CAMPING WITH PIZZA. No Oven? No Problem. We will follow Daniele to a remote destination with a chef friend where he will cook delicious pizza over a campfire, touching on his life challenges and how sometimes the simplest things in life are the best. / Episode 5 PASTA & ASIAN FUSION. SIMILAR INGREDIENTS. DIFFERENT PRICES. Italian food and Asian cuisine aren’t drastically different - both utilize dough in some form or another. Daniele will team up with a notable Asian chef, exploring Asian restaurants in Los Angeles. They will then take their conversation back to the kitchen and focus on the similarities of both cuisines by using dough created by Daniele. The major difference between flavors - the price tag. Italian food is often sold at a much higher price, but utilizes similar ingredients to Asian cuisine. / Episode 6 GLAZED & CONFUSED. THE FINAL COURSE. You didn’t think we would forget about dessert, did you? Although dessert is not Daniele’s strong suit, it holds a special place in his heart. His restaurant, Pizzana, is raved by critics as having some of the best desserts in LA. For this episode, Daniele will team up with a notable guest chef and cook some undeniably delicious final courses for our viewers.
