Despite some of these emulsions not now being available, the combination of speed, focal ratio and corresponding exposu re are a good starting point for acceptable photographs usi ng modern moterials. Index of Named Formations This index contains formations listed in NASA Catalogue of Lunar Nomenclature by L. E Andersson and E. A. Whitaker (NASA Reference Publication 1097) (1982) with additions to 1994. A few older, unofficial, names are indicated in this index with an asterisk (*) while on the maps, they are shown enclosed between brackets. Formations such as Mares, Montes, Promontoria etc are additionally indexed under their proper names. The groups of figures and letters against the formations indicate where they will be found on the various key maps. Thus the group 3 b4 against Alhazen indicates that it lies in square b4 on Map 3: Adams, 15 bl, 16 b7 maybe found on Maps 15 and 16.
