The Division of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Tertiary Courses in Hong Kong University (HKU) was established for this purpose. The division has developed courses in TCM and acupuncture conducted as part-time certificate programs at HKU since 1991. HKU offers a wide range of Traditional courses in the following areas: • Traditional Chinese Medicine, • Acupuncture, • Chinese medicine pharmaceutics, • TCM and acupuncture for Western Chinese medical practitioners, • International acupuncture training programs, and • CDP courses for TCM practitioners, Medicine acupuncturists and bonesetters. Courses in TCM Courses in this area include a four-year Diploma in TCM that began admitting students in September 1997. Appro- priate exemptions are granted for students who have undertaken studies with SPACE in the various certificate courses in TCM subjects. The following is a brief introduction of some of the TCM courses in HKU: B.Sc. (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine In September 1998, HKU launched a new B.Sc. (Hons) course in TCM.
