LeBII07 Grove Park Cemetery The cemetery contains flower- rich grassland and many fine mature trees and dense planted shrubberies. The proposal is to split the site from Chinbrook Community Orchard and Green Chain Walk (LeBII20). 18 LeBII15C Nunhead Cutting The wide shallow cutting to the east of Nunhead Station contains a mix of woodland, scrub and grassland. The proposal is to include an area of contiguous habitat to the south and east. 19 LeBII15E St Johns to Lewisham Railsides The area around St Johns Station has a mix of woodland and flower rich grassland. An additional area of contiguous habitat is proposed to the south east, extending to Lewisham Station. 20 LeBII15F Lewisham Railway Triangles The junction of the railway lines to Ladywell and Hither Green provides a valuable wildlife habitat right in the heart of Lewisham. An area of similar habitat is proposed to the north east. 21 LeBII15H Hither Green Railsides The railway tracks converge at Hither Green Station to form a triangular hollow of woodland and grassland. New areas of track have been added to the site between Lewisham High Street and St. Mildreds Road and the boundary around the station and depot have been corrected. 22 LeBII15I Hither Green Sidings These former sidings have a variety of wildlife habitats, including disused allotments, grassland, scattered trees and scrub and a small pond. The boundary has been amended to match the current distribution of habitat on and around the sidings. It is proposed to add the isolated strip of land associated with the Fairview Development on the south side of the railway to LeBI03. 23 LeBII15O New Cross and New Cross Gate Railsides Wooded railway cutting reaching to the Southwark border and linking with several Sites of Nature Conservation Importance. This site is a new proposed site in a densely urbanised part of Lewisham with relatively few open spaces. 24 LeBII18 Mountsfield Park The park contains many mature trees including fine old oaks and some very good recently developed wildlife areas rich in plants and animals. This site is proposed to be upgraded from a site of Local Importance (LeL13) to Borough Grade II because of the great improvements in good wildlife habitat available. No changes are proposed to the boundary in the adopted UDP. 25 LeBII19 Chinbrook Community Orchard and Allotments The orchard has valuable grassland and two ponds which support amphibians, and the allotments, which are managed organically, provide further wildlife habitat. The orchard site was once part of LeBII07 (Grove Park Cemetery) but has been combined with the allotments to the south to complement and augment its existing habitats. 26 LeBII20 Chinbrook Meadows This new site is proposed because of its successful creation of good wildlife habitat. The site also includes the existing site Amblecote Wood (LeBII15K) 27 LeBII21 Old Forbanks Sports Ground This long disused sports ground is rich in flowers and a haven for insects and birds. The site was proposed for inclusion as a new site of Borough Grade II importance. Unfortunately this site has recently been granted planning permission and as such, this designation can no longer be carried forward. 28 2.4 Sites of Local Importance LeL21 Pepys Park Natural Area This attractive site, which was once an old red gravel sports pitch, is now covered in colourful wild flowers with areas of scrub. A small area of land contiguous to the rest of the site is proposed to be included to the north-west of the area. 29 LeL24 Bromley Hill cemetery This cemetery has a good range of fine mature trees and extensive patches of acid grassland. This site is a new site which is proposed following a survey conducted by the Greater London Authority (GLA). 30 LeL25 Bridgehouse meadows A park with extensive areas of flowery meadow in an area lacking accessible wildlife sites. This site is a new site which is proposed following a survey conducted by the Greater London Authority (GLA). 31 Lel26 Gilmore Road Triangle This small open space, on the edge of Lewisham Town Centre, contains many mature trees. This site is a new site which is proposed following a survey conducted by the Greater London Authority (GLA). 32 3 URBAN DESIGN AND CONSERVATION The following Conservation Areas have recently undergone consultation on these boundary changes which have subsequently been endorsed by Full Council. The following Conservation Areas presented in this document are here for information purposes only. 3.1 Brockley Conservation Area Brockley Conservation Area was extended as part of a comprehensive review. The cemetery has a strong historic link to the conservation area and has buildings worthy of preservation. The shops along Brockley Road were found to conform strongly to 33 the character of the southern part of the conservation area which it is desirable to preserve. Six houses were taken out of the conservation area due to the high level of unsuitable alterations they had undergone. 34 3.2 St Mary's Conservation Area St Mary's Conservation Area was extended to include the Adhesives building in Ladywell Road and late Victorian buildings along Lewisham High Street which related to the history and character of St Mary's Conservation Area. 35 3.3 Hatcham Conservation Area The grass verge along Queen's Road was removed from the conservation area as, having no buildings on it and being isolated from the rest of the area, it did not relate to the character of Hatcham Conservation Area. 36 4 Schedule 1- The Council’s Proposals The following sites shown on the Lewisham Unitary Development Plan Proposals Map have now been developed.
