Founders Stella Abrera is the Artistic Director of Kaatsbaan and a Principal Dancer with American Ballet Gregory Cary Kevin McKenzie Theatre. Ms. Abrera is from South Pasadena, California, and began her studies with Philip and Bentley Roton Martine van Hamel Charles Fuller and Cynthia Young at Le Studio in Pasadena. She continued her studies with Lorna Executive Director Diamond and Patricia Hoffman at the West Coast Ballet Theatre in San Diego. She also spent three Sonja Kostich Artistic Director years studying the Royal Academy of Dancing method with Joan and Monica Halliday at the Stella Abrera Halliday Dance Centre in Sydney, Australia. Stella Abrera Christine Augustine Gregory Cary Ms. Abrera’s charity work includes founding Steps Forward for the Philippines, an organization Sandy Choi Sonja Kostich that partnered with Operation USA to rebuild and supply a school in the wake of 2013’s Super Chris Omark Bentley Roton Typhoon Haiyan. She cofounded Artists for Aveni, which benefits the Aveni Foundation’s mission Martine van Hamel to cure cancer. She also curated and danced in a series of galas in Manila in 2018 and 2019 Board of Advisors Dancers benefitting the economically disadvantaged and gifted Filipino children of CENTEX (Center of Isabella Boylston Gary Chryst Excellence) elementary schools in the Philippines, which resulted in the building of the Stella Herman Cornejo Alessandra Ferri Abrera Dance and Music Hall in Batangas. She is also a frequent performer in galas for Dancers Carmen de Lavallade Gillian Murphy Responding to Aids and Dance Against Cancer. Abrera teaches master classes throughout the US Garen Scribner Wendy Whelan and abroad, and serves as Guest Ballet Mistress for American Ballet Theatre Studio Company.
