Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria ANNUAL REPORT 2016 - 2017 ECCV is supported by the Victorian Government and the Victorian Department of Premier & Cabinet, Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion division The Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria (ECCV), is an organisation whose core business is to advocate for the rights, interests and needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, recognises the unique place that First Peoples hold in Australia's history and future as well as their struggle for justice and land rights. We understand and support that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia prefer to be recognised as the First Peoples or First Nations of Australia. We fully consider the Constitutional Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as a crucial step to right past wrongs and serve as a prelude to practical actions.
