The Dolby® Program Optimizer VM600 Overview The Dolby Program Optimizer VM600 is a next-generation software platform that provides a file-based workflow solution for loudness correction, audio conversion, and upmixing. Leveraging the same feature set as the award-winning Dolby DP600 hardware, the VM600 offers more simultaneous work orders, and enables you to process content up to 12 times faster by integrating your VMware® and stor- age environment.* Highlights • Automated loudness analysis and correction • Faster-than-real-time file-based encoding, decoding, and trans- coding • Accomplish tasks significantly faster than the DP600 with more simultaneous work orders and current CPU processing power • Easily migrate to faster CPUs as they become available in the future • Price per work order is 50–75% lower than the DP600 (not including hardware) Workflow Automation The software counterpart of the versatile Dolby DP600 hardware platform, the VM600 can simplify, optimize, and automate your broad- cast workflows. It is designed specifically for cable, satellite, IPTV, terrestrial TV, Over-the-Top, radio, and post-production facilities. Two Configurations The VM600 is available in two configurations to fit your workflow requirements: 8 or 16 simultaneous work orders. Audio Encoding, Decoding, and Transcoding The VM600 provides faster-than-real-time file-based encoding, decoding, and conversion between all Dolby audio formats (Dolby Digital Plus™, Dolby Digital, and Dolby E), PCM, MPEG-1 LII, AAC, and HE AAC v2, while preserving the audio metadata. Automated Loudness Analysis and Correction The VM600 expands on the patented Dialogue Intelligence™ technology for the industry reference Dolby Broadcast Loudness Meter LM100. The use of Dialogue Intelligence enables the VM600 to: • Normalize the loudness of audio programs while preserving the original dynamic range • Analyze the loudness of file-based audio bitstreams coded in Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, Dolby E, and HE AAC with Dolby metadata • Validate and correct the dialnorm audio metadata parameter without the need for decoding and reencoding the original audio bitstream • Provide intelligent speech-based loudness normalization for both PCM audio and MPEG-1 LII audio * Processing times will vary greatly depending on content, workflow, CPU, RAM, and storage configurations. 1 Intelligent Upmixing Capability Intelligent upmixing enhances legacy two-channel content with the unique Dolby stereo-to-5.1 channel algorithm to create a wider, natural-sounding sweet spot, and ensure elimination of artifacts in any subsequent downmixing. Hot Folder Mode Using the hot folder mode simplifies integration into existing workflow. When you select a specific profile, all media files moved to the hot folder are automatically processed to that profile and delivered to a folder you define. Customized Profile Editing An integral processing profile editor enables customization of specific process engines to conform to governmental and institutional broadcast loudness standards.
