Phosphorus Pentoxide (P205) Plastic Additives / Intermediates

Technical Data Sheet Phosphorus Pentoxide (P205) Plastic Additives / Intermediates Description Phosphorus Pentoxide is a white crystalline, extremely hygroscopic solid. It is formed by burning elemental phosphorus in the abundant presence of oxygen. Most practical applications and uses of Phosphorus Pentoxide are based on its extreme affinity to water, which makes it an excellent dehydrating agent. The dissolution in water is exothermic and demands due care. Chemical composition Phosphoric anhydride, P2O5 CAS Registry Number 1314-56-3 Typical properties Appearance white powder Density (kg/l) 0.7 - 0.9 Sublimation (starts at) 360°C Molar Mass 283.9 P205 content (%m/m) 99.5 minimum P203 content (%m/m) 0.1 maximum Arsenic (ppm) 100 maximum Iron (ppm) 5.0 maximum Heavy metals (as Pb) (ppm) 20 maximum Storage Phosphorus Pentoxide is a very corrosive material.
