Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings), making all games worth three points. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. HiS eek S ameS NCHC FaCts aNd Figures t W ’ g • After two weekends of only conference play, this weekend features only Friday, Nov. 24 non-conference games with five NCHC teams in action, including four No. 18 Colgate at No. 11/9 Western Michigan, 7:05 p.m. ET weekend series, while No. 16/15 Minnesota Duluth plays a single game Miami at Bowling Green, 7:37 p.m. ET Saturday against No. 8/8 Minnesota State in a top-20 battle. Three NCHC Northern Michigan at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT teams face WCHA foes, including UMD, while No. 11/9 Western Michigan Union at No. 3/3 North Dakota, 7:37 p.m. CT and No. 3/3 North Dakota each host ECAC Hockey opponents. NCHC teams are 9-3-3 against WCHA foes this season and 2-1-1 against ECAC Saturday, Nov. 25 Hockey teams this year. Overall, NCHC teams are a combined 31-13-8 in No. 18 Colgate at No. 11/9 Western Michigan, 7:05 p.m. ET non-conference play this season, with the .673 win percentage second Miami at Bowling Green, 7:07 p.m. ET among conferences behind only the Big Ten (.693). (page 9) Northern Michigan at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT • For the third straight week, NCHC teams own the top three spots in the Union at No. 3/3 North Dakota, 7:07 p.m. CT USCHO.com Poll, including No. 1 Denver for a second straight week, with St. Cloud State and North Dakota remaining at No. 2 and 3. Five NCHC teams No. 8/8 Minnesota State at No. 16/15 Minnesota Duluth, 7:07 p.m. CT are ranked overall in the USCHO Poll. With Denver in the top spot, the NCHC teams in BOLD NCHC has now held the No. 1 ranking in the USCHO Poll in 32 of the last 34 weeks, with half of the NCHC teams earning the No. 1 spot during that LaSt Week’S ReSuLtS span (SCSU, DU, UND and UMD). Since the USCHO Poll on Nov. 17, 2014, the NCHC has had a team ranked in the top two 87 times. Hockey East is Friday, Nov. 17 second during that span with only 28 top-two appearances. DU also remains *at No. 15/14 Western Michigan 4, Omaha 1 No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, with five NCHC teams *No. 14/15 Minnesota Duluth 3, at Miami 1 also ranked in that poll, the most from one conference, including the top *at No. 2/2 St. Cloud State 6, Colorado College 1 three spots and four of the top nine, as well. (page 9) *No. 3/3 North Dakota 5, at No. 1/1 Denver 4 • One non-conference series this weekend features former CCHA and in-state rivals Miami and Bowling Green. The two head coaches in that Saturday, Nov. 18 series have a shared past, as Miami head coach Enrico Blasi and BGSU *at No. 15/14 Western Michigan 5, Omaha 2 head coach Chris Bergeron played together at Miami for three seasons *at Miami 3, No. 14/15 Minnesota Duluth 2 (1990-93), while Bergeron served as an assistant and associate head coach *at No. 2/2 St. Cloud State 5, Colorado College 1 under Blasi on Miami’s staff for 10 seasons from 2000-10. Two other *at No. 1/1 Denver 4, No. 3/3 North Dakota 1 former CCHA foes clash this weekend as well, as Omaha hosts WCHA foe Northern Michigan for two games. *National Collegiate Hockey Conference game • The NCHC is home to three of the top five offenses in the country, including the top two. St. Cloud State has the top offense in the NCAA, Upcoming Games on NCHC.tv scoring 4.27 goals per game, while Denver is second with 4.17 goals per game. Western Michigan ranks fifth scoring 3.77 goals per game. Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25 Defensively, North Dakota ranks fifth in the country, giving up only 2.07 No. 18 Colgate at No. 11/9 Western Michigan, 7:05/7:05 p.m. ET goals per game, while SCSU is sixth on defense (2.18 gapg).
