One example is Kokoon from Germany, whose progressive and hard pop rock was only known locally between 2002 and 2008. Similar to many artists from the fields of visual arts or classical music, Kokoon hit the scene quasi „posthumously“. Three pre-installed songs from the album „Mrs. Jesus“ (2008) made it to an MP3 player from Archos, which was hip at the time. So the song „Save Me“ became a hit for Kokoon only after the band had already ceased to exist. Fans from all over the world tried to find out who this band was. As a result, the former band members received numerous enquiries, but in the meantime they had become well-known with other projects. Only small quantities of the two original CDs (2003, 2008) were pressed by the group itself and sold exclusively at their few performances. The number of copies was extremely small, so that the two albums became rarities. Namedropping is the second reason why Kokoon are better known today than in their active days. Guitarist and songwriter Kristian „Kohle“ Kohlmannslehner has been a sought-after producer and engineer („Kohlekeller Studio“) for many years and has already worked with famous artists like Joachim Witt, Eskimo Callboy, Powerwolf, Hämatom or Subsignal. Cutty Sark from the former German capital of Bonn was like Warlock one of the German bands at the cult label Mausoleum. After a self-produced EP (1983) they finally got the desired deal and presented their first long-player named „Die Tonight“ (1984). Local bands that had no contracts with big labels like « Noise » usually had difficulties to make it into the metal press, but not Cutty Sark. The LP received very good reviews and the band also appeared in the Metal Hammer with interviews and even a poster. Also „Heroes“ (1985) was very successful. Thus, it is a mystery why this Mausoleum highlight could not advance in their career. After all, the band reunited in the late nineties and released their last album „Regeneration“. This was also the last sign of life by the band. Since then the members are no longer findable.
