Year 11 BTEC Music - Film Music & Working to a Commercial Brief – Week 1 You are going to look at how film music adds to the action of a film and think about how it creates an atmosphere. You will think about how composers have to do to work to a brief. Consider what a brief might look like and what might have been the instructions given to the composer who created the music to suit the mood of the fil, Week 1 Star Wars Imperial March Theme (go online and listen to this famous theme, there is a link below) https://youtu.be/hNv5sPu0C1E What ‘picture’ does the music create in your mind? Think about: a) the instruments that are used b) the pitch of the music c) the rhythms d) the tempo. Write down any thoughts as you listen. What genre of film is the music trying to express? Create a power point, mind map or a piece of writing about this music. Here is a list of films you can use to research and listen to while you are not in school.
