Bus System, AAATA Bus System Map, Hilltop View Apartments Site Plan April 2, 2020 1 Hilltop View Apartments Energy Consumption and Energy Efficiency Full Narrative: This project includes the use and installation of Energy Star appliances, the HVAC equipment will be sized according to the size of the building, and all LED lighting in the interior of buildings and all LED lighting on the exterior of the buildings. All dwelling units at both sites will be certified through the ENERGY STAR New Homes program. This project will achieve minimum home energy rating system requirements according to the Enterprise Green Communities green criteria for Building Performance Standard for New Construction of low rise multifamily residential development. The project includes the installation of Energy Star rated exterior vent fans for bathroom and kitchen, the installation of roof insulation, wall insulation, caulking and air sealing. See Green Criteria Checklist and 2015 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria. The Hilltop View rental development Project provides homes to 24 households located less than 1 mile from Downtown Dexter which is relatively close in proximity. With its proximity to Downtown Dexter and the Mill Creek Middle School the Hilltop View rental development project provides commutable access to and access to the Western Washtenaw Area Value Express WAVE interurban express route Community Connector which links Chelsea with Dexter and Ann Arbor which also links to other locations in Washtenaw County. The WAVE bus travels to the Meijer Store in Scio Township along Jackson Rd at Zeeb Rd. At that location riders of the WAVE system can then access the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority Bus System, with AAATA Bus Route 30, which goes to the Blake Transit Center in Downtown Ann Arbor via the Jackson Ave corridor, with transfers to several AAATA Bus Routes that allow access to the University of Michigan, the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Washtenaw Community College, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Briarwood Shopping Center, Eastern Michigan University. The AAATA System also travels to the Ypsilanti Transit Center in Downtown Ypsilanti, which also allow access to Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital as well as destinations in the City of Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti Township and Superior Township. The linkage of the WAVE Bus System to Downtown Ann Arbor and the nearby University of Michigan Transit Centers and to the Ypsilanti Transit Center in Downtown Ypsilanti also links many destinations located throughout the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Urbanized Area and to other destinations located further east and west through other public transit linkages. At the Blake Transit Center, riders can access other bus routes that travel throughout the City of Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Township, Ann Arbor Township, Scio Township, the City of Chelsea and Canton Township in Wayne County, as well as the Detroit Metro Airport via AirRide as well as Amtrak and the Greyhound Bus Lines, which are located in downtown Ann Arbor. See WAVE Bus System documentation and AAATA Systems Map. Relatively speaking, the Hilltop View Apartments site is within walking distance for the future residents of both sites to Downtown Dexter and the Dexter Ann Arbor Rd corridor. The Hilltop View site is located approximately 20 minutes away in walking time from Downtown Dexter. Most streets located between this project and Downtown Dexter have a sidewalk. The Dexter Ann Arbor Corridor which includes Buschs Market Grocery Store and other commercial services is located approximately 15 minutes by walking. There are sidewalk segments that are in place along Dan Hoey Rd that allows the Hilltop View site to be accessible to the Dexter Ann Arbor Rd. This will reduce energy consumption, as it allows employment and shopping opportunities within walking distance of the residents, as well as excellent access to the WAVE Bus System which also allows access to the AAATA Bus System and access throughout the local urban area and provides for less reliance on the automobile. 2 3 4 5 6 2015 ENTERPRISE GREEN COMMUNITIES CRITERIA 7 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Enterprise Green Communities thanks the following individuals and organizations for their insights and assistance with the 2015 Enterprise Green Communities Criteria: Technical Working Group Dena Belzer Ruth Ann Norton Strategic Economics Green and Healthy Homes Initiative Jamie Blosser Chris Pyke Atkin Olshin Schade Architects U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Terry Brennan Cady Seabaugh Camroden Associates McCormack Baron Salazar Erin Christensen Ishizaki Kristi Wamstad-Evans Mithun STAR Communities Alistair Jackson Rebecca Warntz O’Brien & Company Enterprise Homes Tom Lent Walker Wells Healthy Building Network Global Green Ellen Tohn A special thanks to: Tohn Environmental Our Policy Working Group, including invaluable input Alex Wilson from many of our longtime partners at the city, state, Resilient Design Institute and federal level.
