The World Summer Universiade (FISU Games) is an international multi-sport event that is held every two years in a different city around the world and it is second only to the Olympic Games in the number of participating athletes and countries. The Summer Universiade consists of multiple compulsory sports, including tennis, as well as up to 3 optional sports chosen by the host country. The event has been a crucial step in the careers of some of the world’s top athletes! In fact, 48% of Olympic medalists are also Universiade medalists and in most countries, competing athletes are believed to be the next generation of leaders in their respective sports The Universiade is open to competitors who are at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as of January 1 in the year of the Games. Participants must be full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, CEGEP) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the event. The selection criteria is based on NCAA rankings, National rankings and recent results.
