Department of Psychology Faculty of Arts | Ryerson University BACK TO CONTENTS A 2012 2013 PSYCHOLOGY AT RYERSON MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Welcome to the second Annual Research and Achievement Report for the Department of Psychology at Ryerson University, highlighting contributions for the 2012-2013 academic year. The accomplishments of our faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students comprise over 50 pages of diverse contributions spanning all major areas of Psychology, as well as a number of related fields. The report includes awards, honours, grants, publications, presentations, media interviews, and various other contributions over the previous year. Here are some highlights of the report, which includes contributions from June 2012 through May 2013: Summary of Research Accomplishments • In August 2012, the Psychology Students’ Association held its second annual Psychology Day, a welcome day for incoming • 29 prestigious external awards and honors, including first year psychology students to meet one another and upper “new investigator” and “career” awards from the Canadian year students. Psychological Association and the Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour, and Cognitive Science • In April 2013, our Undergraduate Honours Thesis Poster Session was held, showcasing 20 different research projects • 4 appointments to “fellow” status in national and international conducted by students registered in the thesis stream option psychology associations of our undergraduate program. • Several senior editorial appointments (e.g., editor, associate editor) to scientific journals such as the Journal of Consulting Graduate Program and Clinical Psychology and Canadian Acoustics • We received close to 300 applications for Fall 2012 admission to • 38 new external research grants, totaling more than our MA/PhD program. 16 new students were admitted across $4.2 million in funding our Psychological Science and Clinical Psychology streams. • 116 peer reviewed journal publications • Ryerson’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program was accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association in Fall 2012. • 49 books and book chapters published • Our second cohort of 10 clinical psychology students matched • 16 other publications for their predoctoral internships in February 2013. Undergraduate Program • In October 2012, the Psychology Graduate Students’ Association hosted their annual Psychology Research • We received 3195 applications for Fall 2012 admission to our Symposium, an event celebrating the research of the BA program.
