Standardized Testing Information 2017-2018 Testing Dates

Standardized Testing Information Standardized tests (such as SAT or ACT exams) are not a requirement for admittance to many colleges and universities in Massachusetts and greater New England for students who have an Individualized Educational Program (IEP). If a student would like to take a standardized test, he or she can register to take the exam at a local high school or testing center or register to test at Learning Prep. Students with a diagnosed learning disability may qualify for special accommodations. Accommodations are granted based on student need. At times, a student may not receive all of the accommodations that he or she requested. In that case, an appeal can be filed on the student’s behalf. Students who are interested in taking a standardized test as part of the college application process must register by the deadlines listed below. Families are responsible for creating a profile and registering for a specific testing date and location. Learning Prep School participates in school-based testing, which occurs during a set time frame after the national testing date. When registering your student, please indicate that you are registering for accommodations. After you have registered for a test and filled out a release of information form, contact Erin Brown to request accommodations. Please keep in mind that it takes approximately 7-10 weeks to process an accommodations request. Testing accommodations are granted based on IEP’s and neuropsychological evaluations. If you are planning on registering your student to take the SAT or ACT exam it is important to apply for accommodations early and review your student’s IEP to ensure that all preferred accommodations are listed in the current version of the IEP. In some cases, students who miss the deadline may still be able to register for an exam, however a late fees will be applied. Learning Prep’s C.E.E.B. code is 222345. This code is required when filling out college applications and registering for standardized testing. 2017-2018 Testing Dates ACT Dates Registration Deadline SAT Dates Registration Deadline October 28, 2017 September 22, 2017 October 7, 2017 September 8, 2017 April 14, 2018 March 9, 2018 May 5, 2018 April 6, 2018 If you have questions please contact Erin Brown at [email protected] Standardized Testing Optional Colleges: SAT or ACT is NOT Required Additional colleges or universities may waive testing for students based on the individuals school’s specific criteria.
