1 Esquimalt Curling Club Executive Meeting November 25, 2013 Meeting was called to order at 7: Present: Lei Davies – President ; Mike Pedneault – Vice President ; Sandra Harden – Secretary ; Lynn Hoadley – Treasurer ; Dave Davies – Senior Select ; Al Teasdale – Senior Men’s ; Darrell Deane – Men,s League ; Boyd Clark – Logistics League ; Fiona Miyoshi – Evening Ladies ; Carol Labella – Director ; Linda Mckay – Curl BC/Rebels ; Yvonne Leach – Director ; Samantha Cameron – Sunday Funday ; Maureen Blaseckie – Afternoon Ladies ; Rachelle Perry – Youth/Director Minutes: Minutes from the meeting held on September 04, 2013 were circulated. Moved by Linda Mckay and seconded by Boyd Clark they are adopted as presented. Approved. Treasurer: Lynn presented the Balance Sheet Summary as of November 25, 2013. Moved by Lei Davies & seconded by Carol Labella that the Treasurers Report be accepted. Approved. Correspondence: Letter from Petersen Tax 55+ Open Bonspiel committee thanking the club for contributing to the success of the bonspiel. E-Mail regarding the International Tankard Event to be held in Lake Cowichan on March 7, 8 & 9th 2014. Each club can nominate a volunteer to participate. Lei Davies moved that the cost of the registration for the Esquimalt volunteer be covered. Seconded by Rachelle Perry. Approved. Old Business: ECC Assessment Fees – all League Assessment Fees are to be paid to the Treasurer by December 6th. Open House – Thank you to Rachelle Perry, Ken Whitehead, Yvonne Leach and their volunteers. Winner of the draw for the Youth Membership from Accent Refrigeration was Elizabeth Fehr. New Business: Curl BC report – Linda Mckay attended a meeting at Glen Meadows on October 7th. Presentation by Scott Bailey the CEO and Executive Director of Curl BC. Promoting benefits of Curl BC membership. There was a meeting at the Victoria Curling Club on November 18th the guest was Lena West, Governor of the Canadian Curling Association. They are promoting youth development and the plan to build a national centre for curling excellence. Also promoting the first ever over 80 bonspiel, December 14 & 15 at Glen Meadows. Linda has information. Women’s playdowns were held at Lake Cowichan, Men’s are Dec. 13-15 at Victoria, Juvenile are Jan. 3-4 at Esquimalt, Masters are Feb. 7-9 at Victoria and Mixed are Feb. 21-23 at Juan de Fuca. 2 Club Name Tags: please forward names of your new members that would like name tags to Lei as soon as possible. If any members would like a replacement the cost is $5.00. The Start Curling Program was been cancelled as there was not a volunteer to instruct. Curl BC Men’s Representative has resigned. A volunteer is required. Appointment of Auditor- Carol Labella has volunteered. Appointment of Nominating Committee- volunteer required Esquimalt Municipality will be starting renovations on the Archie Browning Sport Centre – new front doors, entry way hall and converting the kitchen area to office space. League Reports: Men’s: Had 28 teams in the bonspiel and it went well. Afternoon Ladies – season finally started. First in 2 events at Interclub. Evening Ladies – Nothing new to report Senior Men’s - Masters Bonspiel Jan. 7-10th, have 27 teams Senior Mixed – play Thursday morning and have 5 teams, new curlers welcome. Senior Select – no report Sportsmen – no report Sunday Funday – 6 teams this year down from 9 last year. 12 new curlers & 12 retuning curlers. Youth- 5 new curlers and 2 returning curlers. No bonspiel planned right now. White Ensign – no report Rebels- 8 teams this year. 40 curlers attend a funspiel, 23 members and 17 new to curling. Logistics – 9 full teams Adjourned at 7:27 Next meeting - January 20, 2014 @ 7:00 PM 3 .
