Notes on Liskeard Have Your Say Panel Meeting 12 April 2016

Notes on Liskeard Have Your Say Panel meeting 12th April 2016 Sector Inspector Julian Morris (Devon & Cornwall Police) Liskeard and surrounding parishes: Criminal damage is a major problem Burglary low – 53 (1 per week) Domestic violence figures increasing - not felt more of it but because more is being reported Liskeard police station not closing. Funds available for a new tri-service (fire, police and ambulance) to be built behind the existing police station. In answer to questions, he said that vehicles operating out of Liskeard did not have drugs testing kits in them but that some PC’s had received drug impairment training. Simon Diaper (Cornwall Council Dog Welfare Officer) Update on dog chipping: Free microchipping no longer available – Pets at Home = £10, David Ellis £50 Not openly checking – just if dogs come onto radar. Advice rather than prosecution - encourage owners to microchip – 21 days grace Do not see a large number of prosecutions due to cost An offence not to update registration upon sale or transfer of dog Rebecca Dickinson (Cornwall Council Community Partnership) Mild winter therefore gritting reduced Concentrating on drainage issues – camera/jetting next 2/3 weeks. In answer to questions, she said that: as regards pothole repairs, they had two ‘hot box’ gangs for the whole of south east Cornwall and they were receiving 50/60 pothole reports per week. Despite additional government funding budget for pothole repairs was inadequate. Chris Mason (Forestry Commission) Rave at Bolventor stopped and sound equipment seized. If you see a car with a flashing light in its rear window at the head of a convoy of other vehicles it is probably the lead car directing vehicles to an illegal rave – notify police. Julie Dowton (Bodmin Moor Commoners Council) Have seized 40 ponies to date under Animal Welfare Act re-homed locally Association has a license to bury dead animals on site, but cannot bury them in waterlogged graves, so carcases visible. Ponies being dumped on moor John O’Neil (Neighbourhood watch) Council tax rebate scam – target asked for fee to secure it If in back garden – make sure back/front doors are locked PC Helen Priestley (Devon and Cornwall Police) Crime figures for St.Pinnock: February 2016: o 3 cases of domestic violence in East Taphouse o 1 criminal damage o 1 ‘other’ March 2016: o None .
