News from: Oakland Public Library ​ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 31, 2018 Oakland History Room Commemorates A’s 50 Year Anniversary with Exhibit at Main Library Web Release: http://oaklandlibrary.org/news/2018/07/oakland-history-room-commemorate s-s-50-year-anniversary-exhibit-main-library Oakland, CA – The Oakland History Room (OHR) of the Oakland Public ​ Library has officially joined the race for October by mounting a new exhibit, The Oakland A’s: Celebrating 50 Years. ​ ​ The display, which features photos, news articles, souvenir books and memorabilia, will run from August 1 - November 3, 2018. Matt Berson Public Information Officer “Since their earliest days here, the A’s have endeared themselves to fans by 510-238-6932 [email protected] offering up a unique brand of play, style, show business and team management,” said OHR librarian Dorothy Lazard. “Our exhibit is just one small way to show our enduring love for the team and respect for its positive impact on Oakland.” All items in the exhibit are from the OHR archives and OPL staff. The display covers topics like: the 1989 World Series between the Giants and A’s interrupted by the Loma Prieta earthquake; the unique shenanigans and showmanship of the ‘70’s; current general manager Billy Beane’s player personnel strategy that was the subject of the book and movie, Moneyball; and much more.
