ST2017 - Zanzibar Cres. Proposed Parking Changes ITEM NO. 8.rf ), Referring to our phone call today January 24 ,201 7 around 11:13 AM regarding your letter no. ST2017 about Zanzibar Cres. proposed parking changes and the committee meeting that will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at 4:30 pm. Can you please defer discussing the issue to the next committee meeting that will be held on Feb.Mea^. 22,2017? The reason why, as few residents of the crescent and I discussed your letter that we received on the evening of Friday January 20 , 2017, we agreed on submitting a letter explaining our concern and also we suggested to conduct a survey gathering the say of all residents on the preferred options. So far we managed to get 9 responses, we still need more time to complete the survey. I attached the letter (first page) and the survey (second page) with the responses I got so far, I hope it will be completed by March' 22, 2017. Feb I also attached 2 pictures of one comer showing that the parking on the inner side blocks the view of the whole street and prohibiting the parking around the comer only is not sufficient. Every time we drive around the corner as the width and the angle of the street is very narrow, drivers have to be very careful of the coming cars, bikes or kids , this difficulty is a daily experience and prohibiting the parking on the outer side will make it worse. Regards, Husam Ibrahim Resident- Zanzibar Cres, Anna Ciacelli January 20, 2017 Supen/isor of Council Services/ RE; Zanzlbar Crescent Proposed Parking Changes. Dear Ms. CJacelii/ This letter is in response to your letter no. ST2017/ regarding Zanzibar Crescent Proposed Parking Changes. We understand that enforcing the no parking on outer circle reduces the cost and complexity of installing the required signage for city. However, it is not understandable why tt is not viable option to have the street parking on outer circle instead of inner circle as stated in our previous petition. In our previous letter we had shared our concern on safety as it is observed parking of vehicles on inner circle blocks the view of drivers, pedestrians and kids on bikes around the two curves of the crescents and becomes dangerous spot even of your proposal of prohibiting parking in the corner as It still clears a small view of both curves. We are hopeful that administration wil! consider this concern of residents while making the decision other than the cost factor and getting 2 more spaces. It is to be noted that many of the crescents in our neighborhood no paring is enforced on inner circle of crescents/for example on Manzanillo Cres. and that is very safe option for the residents, It has been noticed by residents that the available clear width with parking on one side <s not sufficient to for two mid sizes cars. For example/ two passenger vans or even one mid sized car and one small sedan can not pass along a parked car. The situation become much worse during the winters due to snow around the parked vehicles. Many residents prefer to have No Parking on either side, if that is the option. This option was not opted in earlier letter Nov. 23, 2016, because your letter dated November 7/2016 did not discuss that option. We hope that our concern will be heard and proper action will be taken on this <ssue. Please CC to concerned departments. Yours Sincerely, Residents of ZanzibarCres. INFORMATION To the Members of the Environment, Transportation and Public Safety Standing Committee Re: report #0220/2016 Dear Members of the Standing Committee, The Windsor Parade Corporation was approached by the City of Windsor approximately thirteen years ago to produce a Festival that would fill the void left behind by the demise of the International Freedom Festival. The Festival was rebranded in 2004 and named Summer Fest by the River and became a production of the Windsor Parade Corporation. Every year since 2004 we have produced the Festival along the waterfront in downtown Windsor. One of our key partners is World's Finest Shows. They also had been a key partner of the International Freedom Festival. Mr. Jamieson and his Show have been part of the downtown landscape for over forty years. Our Festival along with World's Finest Shows usually runs from the middle of June until after the Canada Day celebrations. This event has become part of the fabric of Windsor and Essex County and is truly supported by the residents of the area. We are by far the largest contributor of revenue for the Festival Plaza since we rent space over a fifteen to twenty day consecutive period of time.
