At the 2012 USBC Annual Meeting, LAST ALL SUMMER the delegates passed an amendment which removed the statement that memberships purchased after March 15 were valid for the following season as well. As a result of this amendment, all bowlers will need to purchase a 2013-2014 membership before competing in a fall/winter league or tournament. ACCIDENTAL DEATH NCAUSBCA is pleased to announce that all members now have increased POLICY BENEFITS accidental death and dismemberment benefits at no cost to them. USBC OFFERS OFFICER The USBC Officer Certification Program teaches league presidents, CERTIFICATION secretaries, and treasurers his or her responsibilities for the office positions he or she holds or wishes to seek. To become a PROGRAM certified officer, a member must first go through the instructional course and then pass the exam. Prior to taking an officer course, all members will have to take USBC’s Basic Bowling Knowledge Course and pass the exam. A one-time $25 registration fee is required. Once paid, members will be able to take any course he or she desires. Additional information is available here. This program is not mandatory. Meanwhile, NCAUSBCA encourages all officers, at the very least, to thoroughly review USBC Rule 102 (League Officers) to understand the basic duties of each officer position. GWBS HONORS FOUR The Greater Washington Bowling Senate (GWBS) recently named its 2012-2013 Bowlers of the Year -- NCAUSBCA members Paige Martin (Female), Keni Lowe Jr. (Male), A. Jane Hassell (Senior Female), and Gregory Turner (Senior Male). Martin and Lowe are repeat winners. This prestigious award was established to recognize superior GWBS performers for the current bowling season, and each of the winners met the established eligibility and points criteria.
