Thelma Smith Thelma Smith, 63, Zane Highway, Martins Fprrv, riip.d Monday. Nov.- 6_, 2(iaQ-in Columbus. She was born July 7, 1937 in Fairmont, W.Va., a daughter of Josephine Flanagan Deck and the late Robert Deck. She was a member of Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church, Martins Ferry. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Smith; two brothers, Michael and Richard Deck; four sisters. Josephine, Louise and Michelle Deck, Caroline Henry. Surviving, in addition to her mother of Lansing, are two sons, Frank L. and Michael A. Smith, both of Martins Ferry; three daugh­ ters, Roxane, Evelyn and Denise Smith, all of Columbus; a brother, Robert Deck of Wheeling; four sis­ ters, Barbara Howard of Lansing, Rebecca Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa., Theresa Deck of Lansing, Deborah Bryant of Georgia; five grandchil­ dren, Deneve, Kayla, Michael, Marissa and Shailyn Smith; host of family and friends. Friends will be received Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, where services will be held Saturday at l p.m., with the Rev. Eric Richardson officiating. Burial follows in Upland Cemetery, Yorkville. SMITH, Teddy Dean, Sr., 53, Lafferty, died Friday, December 16, 2011, at his home. 7 Z— He was bom in Spencer, W.Va., on June 1 1, 1958, a son of the late Russell and Eloise Starcher Smith. He was a Presbyterian by faith and was a patrol supervisor for Pinkerton Security in North Carolina. He was a member of the Wheeling F.O.E. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two brothers, Oscar and Russell. Surviving are his wife, Kimberly Clary Smith; one son, Teddy D. Smith, Jr., Harrisville; two daughters, Kayla Smith, Valley Grove, W.Va., and Hope Marie Smith of Bamesville; five step-children, Desi Tarr, Barton; Brian Stott, Valley Grove, W.Va., Chris Leonard, Flushing, Brian Steele, Lafferty, Patrick Leonard, Bamesville; a sis­ ter, Kathy Riley of South Carolina; a brother, Allen Smith, Lafferty; seven grandchildren, Christian and Julie Ingram, Destiny and Grace Smith, Michael and Ian Tarr, and Charles Leonard. Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, died^ Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 afEast Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was bom June 19, 1922 in Maynard, a son of the late George and Nellie (Rice) Smith. He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville Plant and a member of Waneta Tribe Improved Order, VFW Post 3613, American Legion Post 38, Eagles Aerie 456 and the PNA, all of Martins Ferry and a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Smith. Surviving are his wife, Florence A. (Freese) Smith; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Linda) Borders of Columbus, Mrs. Streve (Nancy) Fabina of Kipling and Mrs. Terry (Becky) Pethtel of Bridgeport; two brothers, Edward Smith and George Smith, both of Martins Ferry; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Julie) Sykes of Martins Ferry and Mrs. Roland (Genevieve) Habig of. Smith, 64, 66358 Harlan Acres, Belmont, died Mon­ day in Wheeling Hospital. He was born in Cleveland, April 17, 1926, son of the late Berton D. and Minnie McGee Smith. He was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co., Yorkville plant, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife, Loretta Keith Smith; two daughters, Sharon Giannaris of Belmont and Karen Kopyar of St. Clairsville; a son, Eric T. Smith of Fairpoint; nine grandchildren. Thomas D. Smith f On May 4th, 2007 God decided he needed another angel, and he took my precious . husband, Thomas D. Smith, born Dec. 4, 1947. Tom is the son of the late Betsy Reynard Spoon and the step-son of James Spoon. He is survived by his wife Geri Smith, Robert Smith and James Spoon (brothers); Debra Dawes (sister); Thomas Dale Jr and Gregory James Smith (sons);and Rebecca Hernandez (daughter) Rusty Conner (step­ son) Dale, Shelbi and Tammie (stepchildren.); 21 grandchil­ dren. Tom was a wonderful hus­ band, brother, father, grandfa­ ther and son. He will be forev­ er missed by his family and friends. He loved life and enjoyed making people laugh. He moved to Orlando Florida in 1983, but never for­ got his home and friends in Martins Ferry. His final resting place is in Orlando. THOMAS SMITH Thomas Franklin Smith, 76, of New Athens, OH, died Wednesday, Novem­ ber 30, 201 6, at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV, with his family at his side. He was born December 15, 1939, in Bridgeport, Clarence W. and Helen M. Britton Smith. Tom “Smitty’s” occupa­ tions displayed his love of automobiles. He started working at Long’s AMACO in Martins Ferry, OH. He retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a trooper in 1991. He later worked at Modern Auto Parts in Cadiz, where he retired in 2010. He spent his retirement enjoying many adventures, with his loving wife, chil­ dren and grandchildren whom he loved deeply. He spent endless hours with his friend, Dave Owen, who was able to bring Tom’s musical talents of playing the guitar and singing to life. Tom also spent many hours with his friend John Weigand who shared his love of auto restoration. He also remained friends with his childhood friends, whom he called the “West End Gang.” They met annually to share memories of years past. He and his wife were blessed to have spent five winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ, as snow birds enjoying the awesome warm weather, family visi­ tors and many grand adven­ tures in and around the Ari­ zona area, where every day is a “car show.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Ikey; brothers-in-law, Charles Ikey and Ken N. Ward; and in-laws, George and Ruth Ward. Surviving arc his loving wife of 58 years, who was his high school sweetheart, Diane Ward Smith; son, Thomas F. Smith, Jr. (Beth Bailey) of Massillon, OH; daughter, Debra S. (Robert) Butler of New Athens; son, David L. (Carol) Smith of Smithville, OH; six grand­ children, Joshua and Zachary Butler (Jen Garvin), Thomas, III, and Jonathan Smith, Matthew and Stephanie Smith; two great-grandchildren, Eva and Thomas F. He was born June 19,1945 in Monroe County OH, son of Doris Christman Smith of Woodsfield and the late Paul L. Smith. Tom retired from Conalco Aluminum and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his son Steven Paul Smith, December 30, 2005. He is survived by his mother Doris Smith of Woodsfield, two uncles Sam Christman of Woodsfield, and Ray Christman of Illinois, many cousins and friends. There will be no visitation.
