Good Shepherd Village Resident Receives Highest Award from Boy Scouts of America (Binghamton, NY) Mr. Robert Dealaman, a resident of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, recently received the Boy Scouts of America’s “Silver Buffalo” award. Mr. Dealaman was presented the Silver Buffalo Award at the National Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America held in late May. The Silver Buffalo Award is the Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor for adult volunteers. It has been presented since 1926 for devoted service to Scouting on a national level. Mr. Dealaman joins the ranks of past award winners that include: Robert Baden-Powell, Charles Lindbergh, Hank Aaron, Charles Lindbergh, Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., Eddie Rickenbacker, Douglas MacArthur, John Glenn, Ronald Reagan, and Nancy Reagan. Six Medal of Honor recipients and fourteen Presidents of the United States have been awarded the Silver Buffalo. Mr. Dealaman, registered in Scouting for 66 years, is a former assistant Scoutmaster and Exploring Advisor with the Baden-Powell Council and has served in several capacities throughout his Scouting career – including the national Boy Scout Training Committee, the Philmont Leadership Challenge and 21st Century Wood Badge task forces. Most recently, Mr. Dealaman worked with a national Outdoor Programs team to evaluate facilities of 26 properties across upstate New York and Vermont. Mr. Dealaman has been involved in the camp assessment process for over 50 years and currently serves on the National Camp Accreditation Program Support Committee and the Philmont Training Center Task Force and is regional chair of the NCAP assessment. He also serves on the Northeast Region Board and is regional chair of NCAP assessment. A participant in 14 national jamborees and two world jamborees, he is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and has been recognized with the Silver Antelope and Silver Beaver awards, and the International Scouter Award. .
