Motto of "Carpe diem". Date of 1822. Roman numerals from 1pm to 12? Hour and half hour lines. Completely wrongly oriented. Showed 8 o'clock at 11 am. Recently refurbished. BIDDENHAM - ST JAMES 2 Mass/Scratch A mass dial with three hour lines visible and a filled in 05/10/2011 CHURCH gnomon hole. Situated about 3'6" above ground level in porch at left of door to the church. BIDDENHAM - THE GREEN 1 Horizontal This circular metal Millenium Dial with solid gnomon sits on 05/10/2011 a squat column on a circular plinth. Roman numerals from 5am to 7pm. Hour, half hour and quarter hour lines. "Biddenham AD2000 Latitude North 52 08 40 West 000 30 05." "GMT." "Times change and we with them". Gnomon marked "D Harber Oxfordshire XCMXCIX" . Eight points of compass named. Has nearby towns marked with distances and direction. CARDINGTON CHURCH 1 Mass/Scratch A circular mass dial situated underneath the large square 27/04/2011 sundial on the south face of the church. It has 12 hour lines in the lower hemisphere with one in the upper. Has around nineteen pocks, whilst the location of the remaining five can be ascertained. Gnomon hole, but no gnomon. Repositioned in its current position in 1900 when the church was rebuilt. CARDINGTON CHURCH 2 Single Face A large square stone sundial canted high on the south face 27/04/2011 of the church and situated above the mass dial. Gnomon intact. Roman numerals from 6am to 6pm. Date of 1782. Initials "SW". Possible motto above, but can't be read. The gnomon is missing and includes a sun at the gnomon root. Includes a very realistic fly as a pun. Motto of "Hinc Humana Leguntar Tempora" meaning From here man reads the hours. Hour and half hour lines. Situated on the left most of the three panels. Believed to have been part of the glass collection of Sir George Osborne, one time owner COPLE CHURCH 1 Single Face A 17th century square stone dial mounted high on the 27/04/2011 church. Gnomon intact. Arabic numerals marked in black from 6am to 6pm. Hour lines and half hour lines. COPLE CHURCH 2 Mass/Scratch A very faint circular mass dial situated on a butress virtually 27/04/2011 underneath the rectangular sundial on this church. The gnomon hole and three pocks can be seen as well as seven hour lines in the lower hemisphere. CRANFIELD - ST PETERS & ST 1 Mass/Scratch A cicular mass dial with 24 lines, three pocks and a 03/10/2011 PAULS CHURCH gnomon hole to the right of the priest's door of this church. About 6'6" above ground level HARLINGTON - ST MARYS 1 Single Face A rectangular stone dial with simple gnomon above the 04/10/2011 CHURCH porch entrance to the church. Roman numerals from 7am to 4pm. This was the only one on show. Numerals on left of gnomon from 4 to 8. Those on right are difficult to read but could also be 4 to 8. LEIGHTON BUZZARD - HIGH 1 Single Face Situated above a shop in the centre of the High Street, this 23/04/2010 STREET dial has a white rectangular face with Roman numerals from 6am to 5pm with the open gnomon coming from a half sun. Motto "Watch and play, time flies away". The landscape view of trees and a windmill as described by Gatty can no longer be seen.. MARSTON MORETAINE - ST 1 Mass/Scratch A Mass dial on the south butress about 5'10" above ground 24/04/2013 MARY'S CHURCH level . Roman numerals from 7am to 5pm. The use of 'reversed Roman' is unusual and IIIIV for nine is unique. Eleven hour lines Partly renewed? NORTHILL CHURCHYARD 1 Horizontal A circular metal dial plate on top of a square top on a 27/04/2011 tapering shaft situated in the churchyard. Gnomon intact. Arabic numerals from 5am to 7pm. Has a sun motif and a wreath.
