A few highlights: * The Golden Knights acquired forwards Mark Stone and Tobias Lindberg from the Senators in exchange for defenseman Erik Brannstrom, forward Oscar Lindberg and the Stars' second- round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft (previously acquired). * The Predators acquired forward Wayne Simmonds from the Flyers in exchange for forward Ryan Hartman and a conditional pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. * The Jets acquired forward Kevin Hayes from the Rangers in exchange for forward Brendan Lemieux, a first-round pick in the 2019 Draft (conditional) and a conditional pick in 2022. * The Predators acquired forward Mikael Granlund from the Wild in exchange for forward Kevin Fiala. * The Bruins acquired forward Marcus Johansson from the Devils in exchange for a second- round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in 2020. The last time the three goaltenders with the most career regular-season wins were all born in the same Canadian province at the conclusion of a season was 1933-34, when Ontario-born netminders John Ross Roach (212), George Hainsworth (191) and Clint Benedict (189) sat atop the League’s all- time list. LEAGUE-LEADING LIGHTNING EXTEND STREAKS, REACH 100-POINT MARK Victor Hedman scored the decisive marker in the shootout as the League-leading Lightning (48-11-4, 100 points) extended their win and point streaks to nine and 13 games (11-0-2), respectively, and became the first team to reach the 100-point mark this season. * Tampa Bay became the fourth team in NHL history to require 63 or fewer games to reach the 100-point mark in a season, joining Montreal in 1976-77 (62 GP) and 1977-78 (62 GP) as well as Boston in 1971-72 (63 GP). ^All three of the previous teams went on to capture the Stanley Cup * The Lightning matched a franchise record for longest win streak, a mark set from Feb. 18 – March 5, 2016. Tampa Bay recorded a point streak of at least 13 games for the fourth time in franchise history and second time this season (also 15-0-1 from Nov. 29, 2018 – Jan. 3, 2019). DID YOU KNOW? The Lightning will contest two more games this month (Feb. 27 at NYR and Feb. 28 at BOS). Tampa Bay, whose 13-game point streak dates to Feb. 1, can conclude a calendar month without a regulation loss for the second time this season (also 13-0-1 in December). * Only three teams in NHL history have concluded a season without a regulation loss in two calendar months (min. 8 GP): Boston in 1940-41 (6-0-4 in January, 6-0-2 in March), Montreal in 1944-45 (7-0-1 in December, 7-0-2 in February) and Philadelphia in 1979-80 (11-0-2 in November, 7-0-7 in December). VASILEVSKIY, DOMINGUE COMBINE FOR RARE FEAT Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy (30 saves) improved to 8-0-2 in his last 10 appearances dating to Feb. 1 (1.44 GAA, .953 SV%, 3 SO), including seven consecutive wins. His seven-game win streak is the second-longest active run in the NHL, behind only teammate Louis Domingue (11-0-0 dating to Nov. 29, 2018). * Vasilevskiy and Domingue became the second goaltender tandem in NHL history to each have simultaneous win streaks of seven or more games and first since Jan. 29, 1983, when Flyers teammates Bob Froese (8-0-0 dating to Jan. 8, 1983) and Pelle Lindbergh (7-0-0 dating to Dec. 22, 1982) each owned runs of at least 7-0-0 entering play that day. DRAISAITL ON PACE FOR A 50-GOAL SEASON Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl scored his 37th and 38th goals of the season (38-38—76 in 62 GP) and ranks third in the 2018-19 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race, trailing only Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (44-28—72 in 62 GP) and Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (39-54— 93 in 62 GP). * Draisaitl is averaging 0.61 goals per game this season and is on pace to conclude 2018-19 with 50. The last time an Oilers player recorded a 50-goal season occurred in 1986-87, when franchise legends Wayne Gretzky (62-121—183 in 79 GP) and Jari Kurri (54-54—108 in 79 GP) combined for the feat. MATTHEWS, ANDERSEN REACH MILESTONES IN MAPLE LEAFS WIN Auston Matthews scored one of Toronto’s four second-period tallies to reach the 30-goal mark for the third time in as many NHL seasons (30-28—58 in 48 GP) and help the Maple Leafs defeat the Sabres. Toronto improved to 38-20-4 (80 points) this season and occupies third place in the Atlantic Division standings, one point back of Boston (36-17-9, 81 points). * Among players to debut with Toronto, Matthews became the first to score 30 or more goals in each of his first three NHL seasons all with the franchise. Wendel Clark (34 G in 1985-86, 37 G in 1986-87) and Daniel Marois (31 G in 1988-89, 39 G in 1989-90) are the only other Maple Leafs players to reach the 30-goal mark in each of their first two NHL seasons. * Matthews became the 10th different player in franchise history to score at least 30 goals in three or more consecutive seasons (NHL debut or otherwise) and first since Phil Kessel in three straight from 2009-10 to 2011-12. The franchise record for most consecutive seasons with 30 goals is eight, a mark set by Darryl Sittler from 1973-74 to 1980-81. * Frederik Andersen (31 saves) improved to 100-50-22 in 177 regular-season appearances since being acquired by the Maple Leafs on June 20, 2016 (2.70 GAA, .919 SV%, 10 SO). He became the eighth goaltender to record at least 100 regular-season wins with the Maple Leafs franchise and required the fewest appearances to do so, besting the previous low of 190 set by Curtis Joseph on March 17, 2001. Boston has concluded a calendar month without a regulation loss (min. 8 GP) on eight prior occasions in franchise history and just twice in the NHL’s modern era (since 1943-44), doing so in January 1969 (10-0- 4) and again in November 2011 (12-0-1). ISLANDERS AIM TO EXTEND HOME POINT STREAK TO 10 GAMES The Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders (36-18-7, 79 points), who have gone nine straight home contests without a regulation loss dating to Jan. 13 (8-0-1), host the Western Conference- leading Flames (39-16-7, 85 points) at Nassau Coliseum. * The Islanders have recorded a home point streak of at least 10 games on 11 prior occasions, most recently from Oct. 7 – Nov. 28, 2017 (8-0-2). The franchise record for longest home point streak is 23 games, a mark set from Oct. 17, 1978 – Jan. 25, 1979 (19-0-4) and matched from Jan. 2 – April 4, 1982 (21-0-2). * The Flames, meanwhile, look to become the first Western Conference team to reach the 40- win mark this season. Calgary required 63 or fewer games to reach the 40-win mark in a season once before, doing so in its 59th contest in 1988-89 en route to capturing the Stanley Cup. PREDATORS, BLUES CLASH AT ENTERPRISE CENTER The Predators (37-23-5, 79 points) and Blues (33-23-6, 72 points), who occupy first and third place in the Central Division standings, respectively, are set to clash at Enterprise Center. St. Louis enters Tuesday with an active six-game home win streak dating to Jan. 10 and an overall record of 11-1-1 since Feb. 1; the franchise record for most wins in a calendar month is 12, a mark set in April 2013 (12-3-0). * Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington is 14-2-1 since making the first start of his NHL career on Jan. 7 (1.58 GAA, .939 SV%, 4 SO), including a 6-0-0 mark at Enterprise Center.
