Known Aboriginal gorgets The following list contains details about all references to Aboriginal gorgets, either in written sources or known to be or have been held in collections, which have been discovered in the course of research for this book. Not included in the list are the gorgets held in the National Museum of Australia’s collection which are listed separately. The inscription is given first and is followed (where known) by a date, location, brief description of the decoration, shape and metal, dimensions (exact or approximate where known), and (in brackets) a reference to the source of the information. The source of information is often a museum collection in which the item is held. The list is alphabetical according to the name (in bold type) of the person for whom the gorget was inscribed.
