Elmira is in second place in 2/22 ELMIRA the Eastern Division and fourth in the 10‐team FPHL. Mentor dropped all six matchups on the three‐week, two‐ city trip, including four losses in Port Huron. Following a pair of duds against the RECORD VS. ELM…….2‐7‐0‐2 Prowlers, the Ice Breakers were outscored 16‐2 over the first four periods of their LAST 10 VS. ELM…….2‐6‐0‐2 two‐game set against Columbus. From there, the team was able to sele down and STREAK VS. ELM……..0‐1‐0‐0 edged out the River Dragons 7‐3 over the remainder of the contest. MEN GOALS: 32 ELM GOALS: 52 Following another setback last Friday against Port Huron, the Ice Breakers played one FIRST MEETING—12/8/18 (L, 6‐3) of their beer games in recent weeks in a 4‐3 loss to close out the road trip. D Jiri LAST MEETING ‐ 2/22/20 (L, 5‐2) Pestuka was credited with a goal and an assist while D Dominick Horvath found the back of the net for the first me in his FPHL career. BETWEEN THE PIPES VETERAN PRESENCE: The signing of F Josh Newberg is already paying dividends for the Ice Breakers. At the age of 32, Newberg is the oldest member of Mentor’s roster. He appeared in his 100th career FPHL game last Saturday and already has a goal and #31 Frankie McClendon an assist over four oungs as an Ice Breaker. Newberg, who broke into the league in OVERALL: 2017, provides a much‐needed veteran voice in the locker room and has a 15‐28‐43 13 GP, (4‐5‐0‐0), 1 SO, 3.92 GAA, .885 SV% scoring line in his career. He had a 12‐game snt with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals in AT HOME: 2016, scoring at a point‐per‐game pace with four goals and eight assists. 5 GP, (4‐1‐0‐0), 1 SO, 2.00 GAA, .914 SV% SETTING RECORDS: With his goal in the third period against Columbus on February 8, ON THE ROAD: F Declan Conway set a new franchise record for points in a single season (52). He has 8 GP, (0‐4‐0‐0), 0 SO, 4.74 GAA, .870 SV% 72 career points in Mentor and needs only one more to take over as the Ice Breakers’ VS. ELMIRA: all‐me leading scorer. 1 GP, (0‐1‐0‐0), 0 SO, 5.00 GAA, .896 SV% STILL PRODUCING: Over the last month or so, F Steven Fowler has been Mentor’s most dangerous forward. When healthy, the 22‐year‐old is a point‐per‐game scorer #30 Jordan Brant in the FPHL and has posted an 8‐13‐21 line in 22 appearances. Since the calendar OVERALL: flipped to 2020, Fowler has registered at least a point in 11 of his 13 games, including 15 GP, (3‐8‐0‐1), 0 SO, 4.21 GAA, .881 SV% three mul‐point performances. AT HOME: 7 GP, (2‐3‐0‐1), 0 SO, 3.09 GAA, .912 SV% IRON MAN: With several players missing games for the first me this season on the ON THE ROAD: Ice Breakers’ recent road trip, F Alex Morrow has become the team’s leader in 8 GP, (1‐5‐0‐0), 0 SO, 5.63 GAA, .844 SV% games played, appearing in all 41 contests to date. In his career, Morrow has suited VS. ELMIRA: up for 90 games as an Ice Breaker, trailing only F Nate Farrington for the team rec‐ 0 GP, (0‐0‐0‐0), 0 SO, 0.00 GAA, .000 SV% ord. MAGIC NUMBER: Throughout the season, the Ice Breakers have seen tremendous success when scoring four goals or more, winning 13 of 14 games. Unfortunately, HEAD‐TO HEAD LEADERS (2019‐20) Mentor has hit that number only twice since the beginning of January. Both games were victories. MENTOR WELCOME BACK: Tonight’s game marks the return of F Mark Essery to Northeast NAME GP G A PTS Ohio. The Framingham, Massachuses nave was traded to Elmira on February 6 in H. Berger 1 1 0 1 exchange for Horvath and F Jack Chudleigh, who has not reported to Mentor. Essery, I. Crawford 1 1 0 1 who was the Ice Breakers’ leading scorer a season ago with 51 points, has dished out three assists and earned a plus‐three rang over seven oungs as an Enforcer. S.
