Hurok Attractions, Inc., 730 Fifth Avenue, New York, N. Y. Henryk Szeryng, bom in Poland, was a child prodigy who began studying piapo at the age of five. He soon switched to the violin and was heard in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto by Bronislaw Huberman who persuaded Szeryng’s parents to send him at seven to Berlin to study with Carl Flesch. During the war he was in the Polish Army and after the war he settled in Mexico and taught at the National University there. At a local performance he was heard by Artur Rubinstein who persuaded him to go on to the concert stage. Since then, he has performed in 46 countries spanning five continents.
