Shena is currently a sophomore at the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College (UA-PTC) pursing an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. She plans to transfer to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) spring of 2021 to continue studies in Social Work. Shena learned about the EOC Program while completing her GED at Arkansas Baptist College Adult Education Program. She established a rapport with the College and Career Coach LaTasha Dale-Warren. Shena knew she wanted more for herself, “When Mrs. Warren encouraged me to consider furthering my education; I was determined to keep going. Not only for me but my children.” In March of 2018, she enrolled at Arkansas Baptist College Adult Education Program and completed her GED three months later. Shortly afterwards, Shena was introduced to an EOC counselor, Ms. McGhee who helped her successfully enroll in college. Shena is completing her third semester at UA-PTC, she plans to revisit her EOC counselor during her fourth semester for assistance transferring to UALR. “If it wasn’t for my EOC counselor, I wouldn’t have known I qualified for the Arkansas Challenge and the Single Parent Scholarship. I can’t thank her enough for helping me through the entire process. In addition, providing assistance to find extra money from scholarships.
