As proof of English knowledge, official language test results are required. Institutional tests and/or certifications issued by professors or International Relations Offices cannot be accepted. Exemptions Submitting an English certificate is not required if: * the student has completed the secondary education in Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA. Or in a school in which the medium of instruction is English * the student attends a University in which the medium of instruction is English. In this case, the University must issue a certificate stating, “The medium of instruction is English”. The student can be exempted if upon registration provides a stamped declaration/certificate written on official paper certifying one of the abovementioned cases. To meet the needs of students who are unable to take the tests at a test center due to public health concerns, online testing is offered in selected areas. Tests are identical in content, format and on-screen experience to the tests taken at a test center. 7 Information received by email 08/03/2021 The official language of instruction in the University of Thessaly is Greek. However, in numerous cases Erasmus+ exchange students are facilitated in their academic work by getting bibliography, tutoring, exams, etc. in English. They are given tutoring courses and private study load in English as well as projects and assignments. In some instances, exams may also be given in English. This means that all applicants should be at least B1 level users in both written and spoken English. This requirement does not apply to students who are qualified to carry out their studies in Greek. Students are required to have B1 level knowledge of English. For more information on the accepted certificates, you can visit http://erasmus.uth.gr/en/studies-en/teaching-language. The University of Thessaly also offers courses in English. Since the academic year 2017-18, there is a list of all available courses per Department taught in English. The list is updated at the beginning of each academic year. Incoming students can get information concerning any academic issue, on the Department’s website. In case specific information is not mentioned on the website, the student should contact the relevant Departmental Coordinator. International students wishing to apply to the University of Thessaly, must be able to demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English in order to benefit fully from their course of study.
