CYCLONE IDAI AND KENNETH CERF response overview 2019 as of 14 June 2019 In March and April 2019, Southern Africa was ALLOCATIONS BY COUNTRY hit by two subsequent cyclones that brought $34.4M in US$ millions heavy flooding and left a trail of destruction TOTAL ALLOCATED FOR Cyclone Idai Cyclone Kenneth across several countries. More than 3.4 million CYCLONE IDAI AND CYCLONE KENNETH $3.0M people are in need of urgent assistance. MALAWI $3.4M CERF allocated a total of US$34.4 million 732,000 people in need1 COMOROS to provide life-saving aid to affected 189,000 communities. Within 48 hours after Cyclone people in need2 Idai made landfall, the Emergency Relief Coordinator announced an allocation of 38% $10.0M some $20 million to kicked off relief efforts $4.1M in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi. $14.0M 62% ZIMBABWE CERF began disbursing funds within five days MOZAMBIQUE 270,000 of the grant application submission from 2.22M people in need3 Mozambique. A second allocation of $13 people in need4 million provided urgent food, shelter, water and sanitation for people affected by Cyclone Kenneth in Comoros and Mozambique.
