Cranbury Township offers numerous stormwater and pollution prevention public education events and outreach activities throughout the year. Events and activities are advertised using the following methods: The Township utilizes e-mail blasts to disseminate notices for upcoming environmental outreach programs and summaries of recent environmental outreach programs at schools, Scouting events, stream clean ups, etc. Residents and businesses sign up to receive e-mail updates. The Township posts notices for events and programming on the Environmental Commission’s website: https://www.cranburytownship.org/environmental-commission The Cranbury Department of Public Works maintains stormwater-related information on their website: https://www.cranburytownship.org/department-public-works. Stormwater-related public service announcements are broadcast on the local television channel (Comcast Channel 26). An annual DPW calendar is available on the DPW website with annual community clean-up dates. The main Township online calendar advertises the community clean-up dates. A stormwater display and promotional items are available at the annual community clean-up and in the municipal building. The Environmental Commission provides information during the annual Cranbury Day festival in September. Available educational resources and materials include brochures, hands-on activities, and a stormwater drain model to demonstrate stormwater management. Pet waste information sheets are distributed annually with pet licenses. Township Ordinances for illicit connections and improper disposal of waste are located within Chapter 130 Streets and Sidewalks and are accessible from the Township’s website. 3. How does the municipality define ‘major development’? Major Development is defined as a development plan for greater than 5,000 square feet of new or additional gross floor area, or greater than 20% increase in impervious surface coverage. §150-7 Major Development shall mean any development resulting in a land disturbance of 5,000 square feet or more. §150-61B(7) 2. Does the municipality approach residential projects differently than it does for non-residential projects? If so, how? No, both residential and non-residential major development projects must comply with the municipal Stormwater Control Ordinance, except as may be governed by the NJ Residential Site Improvement Standards (RSIS). 3. Applications for development are reviewed by the pertinent review agency (Planning Board and/or Zoning Board of Adjustment) and the Board Engineer to ensure compliance with the municipal Stormwater Control Ordinance. Describe the process for reviewing major development project applications for compliance with the Stormwater Control Ordinance (SCO) and Residential Site Improvement Standards (RSIS). Attach a flow chart if available. Applications for development and redevelopment that come before the Cranbury Township Planning and/or Zoning Board of Adjustment are reviewed by the Board Engineer. The Board Engineer ensures that approved preliminary and final site plan approvals are in compliance with the RSIS and SCO. The Township Code includes checklists for variance, subdivision, and site plan applications. The Code and checklists require applications to include stormwater drainage calculations, soils reports, drainage area maps, drainage plans, detailed design of SWM facilities, soil erosion and sediment control measures, construction details, and other required measures.
