Channel-Switching Between Play and Record Some sites plan to use Channel 4 as a combination Play and Record channel. When you switch a channel from playing to recording, it takes time to record material, upload the material, and for the databases to recog- nize the material. Moreover, a channel that is devoted to playing may not have space on a local disk for recording. The easiest and most efÞcient way to create disk space for recording is to dedicate an entire disk for record-only. However, another way is to clear a disk partition before you record. Channel-Switching Between Play and Record Release 3.9 Addendum to Rev. B Release Notes 9 Using a Dedicated Disk When you dedicate a removable iS9 disk for record-only, the record drive is mounted when the channel is conÞgured as a Record Channel, and not mounted when the channel is conÞgured as a Play Channel. The following procedure installs a record disk, records to the dedi- cated drive, and removes the record disk. 1. Quit AirPlay MP. 2. (Optional) Shut down the channel. If you are not combining your restart and backup operations, you may use this opportunity to perform your daily channel restart. 3. Install the record drive in an empty slot of the shared library MediaDock. The spin-up light ßashes until the disk is ready to use. 4. If you shut down the channel, restart it. Three disk icons will appear on the desktop: Record A, Record B, and Record C. 5. If you did not perform the restart in step 4, use VScanner to mount the disk. Three disk icons will appear on the desktop: Record A, Record B, and Record C. 6. Launch AirPlay MP. 7. Close open playlists. 8. Record new media to Record A, Record B, and Record C only. 9. Upload the new media to the shared library. 10. Wait for the database operations on the other channels to synchro- nize. Click the Info button in the Project window to display bar graphs showing the synchronication progress. When the bar graphs show 100% complete, the databases are synchronized. Channel-Switching Between Play and Record 10 Release 3.9 Addendum to Rev. B Release Notes 11. Quit AirPlay MP. 12. Quit VScanner. 13. Drag the three drive icons, Record A, Record B, and Record C, to the Trash. 14. Remove the record drive from the MediaDock.
