Students Learning Outcomes Programme Outcomes (POs) Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) Course Outcomes (Cos) Department of Prakrit & Pali Gujarat University Programme Specific Outcome (PSO) : PSO - 1 Students will pursue research degree like Ph.D. PSO - 2 Students will perform in field such as teaching, translation of Prakrit and Apabhramsha texts and inscriptions. PSO - 3 Students will explore the ability of Manuscript documentation, deciphering and editing of the texts. PSO - 4 Students will cultivate different areas of indological researches like philology, history, philosophy, culture etc. in general and Jainology in particular. PROGRAMME OUTCOME (PO) : PO - 01 Students will know the Origin and development of Prakrit language and literature. PO - 02 Students will be exposed to the Pali language and literature. PO - 03 They will also know what the Apabhramsha language is and how it enriches the modern Indian languages and literature. PO - 04 Students will learn the grammar of Sanskrit and know the literature therein. PO - 05 They will know the most authentic document of history, the inscriptions of Ashoka and others. PO - 06 Students will have comprehensive knowledge of manuscriptology which will enable them to decipher and edit the text. PO - 07 Students can pursue the knowledge of Jain code of conduct and Jain philosophy. PO - 08 Bauddha tradition and philosophy will be transmitted into the students. PO - 09 The salient feature of this syllabus is Indian literary criticism, we will teach in SCM order to make the students evaluate the classical Prakrit poetic works. 2 COURSE OUTCOME (CO) : CO1 : The course will enable the students the sense Prakrit philology. CO2 : It will provide the taste of Maharashtri Prakrit. CO3 : It contains the tenets of Digamber Jain doctrine as well as Shauraseni language. CO4 : The history of canonical literature of both Shvetambara and Digambara is necessary for the benefit of students. CO5 : The history of classical Prakrit literature is equally needful as it is no way inferior to Sanskrit literature. Rather, it has boosted the subsequent poets. CO6 : Seminar encourages the students to translate the unknown texts of Prakrit. CO7 : The course throws light upon the conjugation and declension of Prakrit. CO8 : It explores the new dimension of dramatic literature written in Prakrit and Sanskrit. CO9 : It teaches the students the prosody and the methods of translation of unseen texts. CO10 : Jain philosophy and Bauddha philosophy are the important features of this course. They are necessary for the students. CO11 : The history of Prakrit literature and Jain Art are equally inevitable so as to be able to know the pervasiveness of the subject. CO12 : Seminar provides the occasion for the student to write a big dissertation on any texts. CO13 : Apabhramsha grammar is very vast and diverse. It paves way for learning etymology of modern Indian languages. CO14 : Apabhramsha literature is needed for the students for, it boosts the subsequent literature. CO15 : Sanskrit language and literature is the parallel to Prakrit literature. SCM 3 CO16 : Ardhamagadhi literature is very important for students to know. CO17 : Origin and development of Prakrit language is very much needed for the students. CO18 : Essay writing and prosody will be taught to the students. CO19 : Seminar will be good for the students. CO20 : Pali grammar and text will be good for researchers. CO21 : Inscriptions are direct evidence of our heritage and history. That will be very much useful for students. CO22 : The history of Pali literature is equally needed for the students. CO23 : One can very easily realise that manuscriptology is extremely necessary for deep study of Prakrit and Sanskrit. CO24 : The Bauddha Art is taught in this course for research value. CO25 : History of Apabhramsha is very important for students. CO26 : Indian rhetorism is extremely needed for students to evaluate the classical works of Prakrit. CO27 : Pali Tripitaka is much beneficial for the students. SCM 4 .
