CLUB ATLANTIS GUIDE Getting Ready • Getting There • Club Atlantis Basics • Restaurant Information Club Med Activities • Entertainment Preview • Essentials CLUB ATLANTIS PUNTA CANA November 28 - December 5, 2020 | Club Med Punta Cana, Dominican Republic atlantisevents.com 1 GETTING READY Passport and Documentation Requirements You must have a valid passport to enter Dominican Republic and visas may be required for residents of countries other than the US or Canada. Remember, all documentation is your responsibility and no refund is offered should you not be able to travel due to improper documentation. Entry Requirements and Testing The Dominican Republic (DR) requires that all guests complete a health questionnaire and submit to a screening for temperature upon arrival. Additionally, their immigration officials are conducting random Covid-19 rapid tests at the airport upon arrival. Approximately 10-15% of travelers will be selected for an on-site rapid COVID-19 test. In the case of a positive test, you will not be allowed to go to the resort and will be directed to a local medical facility for further testing and/or quarantine. Pre-Arrival COVID-19 Test Requirement Given the social nature of our group and to add an extra layer of safety, Atlantis and Club Med are requiring COVID-19 testing both before your departure and upon arrival to the resort. This protocol has two direct benefits to you and our group. First, by testing before departure, you are significantly less likely to test positive upon arrival either at the airport or Club Med. We are trying to protect our guests from the unfortunate experience of a quarantine upon arrival. Second, and more obviously, but by double testing all guests, we are making it much less likely for transmission between guests. That said, it is essential that all of you understand that negative tests do not mean that either you or the group is COVID-19 free. Negative tests are only a snapshot in time and it’s entirely possible, and even likely, that asymptomatic carriers are present in our group or you will come into contact with them in your journey. Please see the section below on resort safety for more details. All guests will be asked to submit evidence of a negative PCR test with results no earlier than 72 hours prior to your departure from the USA. In most cities, this can be done through a drive-through or walk-up clinic and scheduled in the days before your departure. Upon arrival to the resort, you will be asked to present evidence of your negative PCR test to the Club Med medical staff. If you don’t have results yet, or didn’t get a test, you might be either quarantined until the results arrive or referred to additional testing. Their staff will determine each case on an individual basis. Arrival COVID-19 Testing Each guest is also required to submit to a rapid COVID-19 test upon arrival at Club Med Punta Cana. This test will take about 15-20 minutes for the results. Once you clear with a negative test, you will be allowed on the property. The cost of the test is a mandatory $35 charge, which will be applied to your account at the resort. Please note that this is below the cost for the test and Atlantis is subsidizing these tests to make it fair and affordable. Guests who purchased the original Miches transfers will only pay $25 for the test since we have some credit on the difference in transfer costs. What to Wear Club Atlantis is very informal. Casual resort or sports attire is appropriate all day and night. Everything is outdoors, so you might bring one long-sleeve shirt and/or pants. There are no formal nights, and you may always dress as you please. All our events are very relaxed and casual, however the themes may inspire a simple outfit or two. Laundry service is available for an additional charge at the resort. Packing Advice Bring plenty of sunblock, bug repellent, hand sanitizer, and basic toiletries. Make sure you have a supply of masks for the duration of the vacation. Beach towels are provided. Finally, please do not place any valuables, including your passport, in your checked luggage. If you are taking any medications, please make sure you bring them in their original containers to avoid delays getting in and out of the country. Dominican Republic authorities have very strict rules and penalties regarding all drugs. 2 GETTING THERE Flight Advice As you know, you should arrive at least 2 hours prior to departure of any international flight, including flights with connections from the USA. Please plan accordingly. More importantly, please remember that the riskiest part of your vacation is likely to be the travel experience. Please wear a mask at all times, ideally a tight-fitting one with multiple layers. We suggest changing your mask as soon as you depart the plane. Also, keep your distance from other travelers at all times, and limit your time indoors and on transport vehicles. Taking these very simple steps will help prevent any exposure to COVID-19. Transfers to the Resort If you purchased transfers from Atlantis, you will be met by a Club Med representative outside of the Customs Area across the driveway. They will be holding a Club Med/Atlantis sign and will direct you to the transfer from there. Please keep your masks on during the transfers and keep your distance from our other guests. The resort is approximately 10 minutes from the Punta Cana Airport. HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Safety Standards Club Med has implemented an extremely high standard of both cleanliness and operational safety measures at all their resorts. Detailing it would take pages, so we recommend you review their excellent “safe together” web page at the link below. Prior to opening in October Punta Cana was fully certified by the “PosiCheck” standard. You can find the details here: https://www.clubmed.us/l/safetogether Resort Guidelines While we want your experience to be as friendly and social as possible, we are obviously in the middle of a pandemic and it’s imperative that everyone follow strict safety guidelines at all times. Please realize that the testing we will have done is no substitute for following these practices and we ask that you take the recommendations seriously at all times. Here are the basic rules. Masks must be worn at all times in public areas, except while dining. This applies to both indoor and outdoor activities. We ask that you keep your dining companions to a maximum of 4 guests per table, ideally with the same people all week. While this is obviously not the “Atlantis standard” from past events, we want to make dining the safest possible experience. Physical distancing standards must be observed at all times. All events and dining will take place outdoors. Guests who are not feeling well or show a temperature will be asked to see medical staff immediately for evaluation and/or treatment. Guests who do not follow the above guidelines may be asked to leave the property, and no refund will be provided. Insurance Coverage You are also automatically covered by two types of insurance, designed to protect you in case of contact with COVID-19 and other medical emergencies. First, Club Med provides an enhanced Emergency Assistance Program with coverage for medical and related expenses should they be necessary during your stay. We will post the full document on our website under the Already Booked section. Second, the Dominican Republic is also providing insurance, albeit at a lower level, to all arriving guests through December 31, 2020. See the following link for details: https://www.drtravelcenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Assistance-Certificate.pdf Returning Home In some cases, guests will be required to get a COVID test within three days prior to departure from Punta Cana and before arrival in their home state (e.g., New York state residents). These tests will be available at the Medical Center at a cost of $35 billed to your Club Med account. Please notify the resort upon arrival if you will need such a test so we can plan accordingly. We recommend you visit your state’s Department of Health web site to know the travel advisories and guidelines prior to departing for Punta Cana and subsequently returning home. This link can help lead you to that information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-planner/index.html 3 CLUB ATLANTIS BASICS Your Daily Schedule Club Med Punta Cana is an eco-friendly resort and has requested printed material to be kept to a minimum. Therefore, full schedules are available on video screens around the village as well as on the Club Med app. We suggest you to keep a copy of this PDF file on your mobile device. Malcolm will provide the lineup for the upcoming day before our evening shows. For convenience, we suggest you download the Club Med app prior to departure from the Apple App Store, or Android App Store. Contacting Team Atlantis Our team is on hand throughout the week to assist with making your vacation experience enjoyable in every way. Our team is usually in the most public areas of the resort, from the pool to mealtimes to the theater. Feel free to ask any of our team members for assistance at any time. In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, we are staffing our desk at very limited hours, but can be reached at any time through reception. The “official” information desk will be available in the lobby each day from noon to 1:00 pm.
