In 1857, Carol Davila, a graduate of medicine in Paris (France) founded the “National School of Medicine and Surgery” which evolved as the Faculty of Medicine, part of the Bucharest University. As a result 2 3 of the educational reform in 1948, the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy was independently set up as a State Medical University. The university has a long tradition.
