Among the group’s core responsibilities are: • Working with faith and community leaders, the Home Office and local authorities to identify the causes of a lack of integration and take forward government policies to address it. • Overseeing the new Holocaust Memorial in Victoria Tower Gardens in London. • Securing a financial settlement for local government in the coming spending review. • Overseeing the local government system, ensuring that it is fit for purpose to secure value for money, and assessing and advising on its sustainability. • Halving rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminating it altogether by 2027. • Continuing support for disadvantaged families with complex problems. • Continuing support for the Grenfell community, including the bereaved, victim’s families and the wider community. • Management of the Grenfell site going forwards, ensuring that oversight is efficient, transparent and accountable. • Co-ordinating local government responses to emergencies and supporting them through wider recovery. • Working with local government on the implications 7 of Brexit.
