NFS Form 10-900-a OMB Approval No. 1024-0018 (8-86) United States Department of the Interior National Park Service National Register of Historic Places Continuation Sheet Section number 7 Page _1_ Wayfarers Chapel, Los Angeles County, CA The Wayfarers Chapel complex is situated on a rocky promontory approximately two hundred fifteen feet above the Pacific Ocean in the Rancho Palos Verdes area south of Los Angeles. Older map designations identify this area where the Pacific Ocean nudged into the outcroppings of land as Portuguese Bend. Other maps will mark the area as Abalone Cove. The Wayfarers Chapel itself is the crown jewel of the Chapel complex, an integration of buildings and nature conceived and designed by Lloyd Wright in the late 1940's.
