EDMONTON CANADA'S MUSIC CITY IN THE Volume 5, No. 21 WEST "Summer Sound '66" , a new 15 minute CBC-TV variety series , and originating from various Canadian cities , made its debut July 2 with a show from Vancouver featuring vocalist Roma Hearn and backed by pianist Doug Parker and his group. In the weeks to follow , programs will feature folksinger and "Hymn Sing" host Don Brown from CTJ Winnipeg, the folksinging courriers from Ottawa , singer Peter Thom out of Montreal , A WEEKLY The New Folk from Halifax , Eve Smith , jazz vocalist from Vancouver, singer Yvette NEWS from Winnipeg and Lance Harrison's Dixieland Band from Vancouver . REPORT CFTO's "News Re lease" notes that Arthur Weinthal, Jerry Rochan, and Robbie Lane CSZl are still auditioning prospective A-Go-Go Girls for their new CTV teener "It's Happening" (in colour). Channel Nine has also been lining up many new and exciting colour shows for the Fall , including "Star Trek" , a science-fiction hour starring Bill Shatner and MEET BILL MILLER James Doohan , and a wartime espionage drama "Jericho", starring Marion Mase and John Leyton.
