DIVISION I MEN’S INDOOR TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS RECORDS BOOK 2018 Championships 2 History 6 All-Time Team Results 23 2018 CHAMPIONSHIPS HIGHLIGHTS Florida men capture NCAA Indoor Track & Field national title: Florida’s men won their fourth NCAA Indoor Championships team title in program history, hold- ing off a late push from Southern California. Sophomore Grant Holloway repeated as the 60-meter hurdles champion, becoming the fifth man in history to successfully defend his title. The collegiate record holder crossed in 7.47 seconds, winning in a runaway and tying the third-fastest time in collegiate history, in addition to breaking his own Gilliam Indoor Stadium record. Holloway also finished second in the long jump and joined Kunle Fasasi, Chantz Sawyers and Benjamin Lobo Vedel to earn a bronze medal in the 4x400 relay. The Gators crossed in 3:01.43, decimating the school record in a race that featured the three fastest 4x400 relay times ever recorded. Houston’s Elijah Hall took home two individual titles from the meet. Hall finished in 6.52 seconds in the 60-meter dash edging Auburn’s Raheem Chambers by .01 seconds. Hall then won the 200-meter dash in dominating fashion with a time of 20.02 seconds to set a new indoor record for the event. Southern California took home the most individual titles from the national meet in historic fashion. Michael Norman won the men’s 400-meter dash with a world- record time of 44.52. Norman wasn’t done setting records though. He joined Zach Schinnich, Rai Benjamin and Ricky Morgan Jr., to set another world record in the 4x400 relay and bring home the second national title for Southern California. Randall Cunningham won the high jump with a 2.29 meter (7-6) height, barely beating Texas Tech’s Trey Culver, to win the third title for the Trojans. Michael Saruni of UTEP set a new record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:45.15 to win the Miners only individual title of the weekend. Syracuse’s Justyn Knight followed up his 2017 cross country national title by winning the 5,000-meter run by a half second over Vincent Kiprop of Alabama. Knight also earned silver in the 3,000-meter run behind Andy Trouard of Northern Arizona who edged him by almost a full second. Josh Kerr of New Mexico successfully defended his 2017 indoor mile run title with a time of 3:57.02, beating second place finisher Vincent Ciattei of Virginia Tech by over a full second. Ciattei was able to bring Virginia Tech an individual title as part of the distance medley relay with Gregory Chiles, Patrick Joseph and Neil Gourley with a time of 9:30.76. In the field events, David Lucas of Penn State became the program’s first national champion since 1990 in the weight throw with a distance of 78-9¼, the fourth longest in NCAA tournament history. He beat Alton Clay of Louisiana-Monroe by over three feet. Other individual champions include: Hussain Alhizan of Kansas (pole vault), Will Williams of Texas A&M (long jump), O’Brien Wasome of Texas (triple jump), Mostafa Hassan of Colorado State (shot put) and Tim Duckwort of Kentucky (heptathalon). 2018 Championships 2 2018 TEAM RESULTS Place School Pts.
