There was one Deficiency identified during the June 27, 2000 plume exposure pathway exercise, which was immediately corrected. This report addresses the evaluation of the plans and preparedness for Hancock County, West Virginia as well as the Pennsylvania Counties of Allegheny, Butler, Lawrence, Beaver and Washington. The risk counties of Beaver and Hancock in Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, along with the support counties of Allegheny, Butler, Lawrence and Washington within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania participated in this exercise. The final exercise report was prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region III staff. There was one Deficiency identified during the June 27, 2000 exercise, which was immeditely corrected. There were 17 Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCA) also identified during this exercise. FEMA Region III staff will coordinate with the State of West Virginia, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to correct the ARCAs on or before the next scheduled biennial exercise. Based on the results of the June 27, 2000 exercise, the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the State of West Virginia and Hancock County as well as for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the affected local jurisdictions, site-specific to the Beaver Valley Power Station, can be implemented and are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to 2 protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site. The Title 44 CFR, Part 350, approval of the State of West Virginia and Hancock County, West Virginia offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness site-specific to the Beaver Valley Power Station, granted on October 29, 1987, will remain in effect. The plans pertaining to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the affected local jurisdictions have not been granted Title 44 CFR, Part 350 approval.
