We are the only “A”-rated district in central Florida and the largest district with this pres gious ra ng. Maintaining quality scores is the result of great instruc on, involved parents, engaged students and a meaningful 21st century curriculum. The 2015-16 school year will be fi lled with posi ve changes and con nued deliberate progress in crea ng a learning environment customized for our 21st century leaders. This important work is enhanced by the essen al contribu ons of our PTA members and parents. You are essen al partners in the educa onal programs and support systems for our students, teachers, administrators and staff . One of our school district’s core beliefs is that every child has a fundamental right to a quality educa on. I believe that this commitment includes educa onal experiences that prepare students to be successful in college, careers, and ci zenship. Our ePathways ini a ve, which is entering Karen Almond Jeff rey Bauer Walt Griffi n, Ed.D. its fourth year, seeks to develop customized learning environments that meet the unique, Superintendent individualized needs of each student through innova ons such as fl exible scheduling, blended learning, career-focused programs, and our new ePathway Skills for Future-Ready Graduates model. ePathways is an important part of our pledge that graduates of our PK-12 system will be ready for the challenges that await them in our democra c society and global economy. The School Board and I are commi ed to expanding our quality Pre-K Programs, increasing advanced placement opportuni es for college prepara on and expanding voca onal off erings for students. Just this school year, we’ve implemented an introduc on to coding skills for all our kindergarteners, foreign languages and Pre-K programs at every elementary school, and have added a brand-new manufacturing program at Lake Mary High School. Addi onally, ci zenship is an important part of who we are and Dr. Tina Calderone Amy Lockhart students at elementary, middle and high school will have opportuni es to learn about our great na on and the freedoms that we enjoy. The Florida Standards in Mathema cs and English Language Arts were approved by the Florida State Board of Educa on in February 2014 and were fully implemented in grades K–12 in Some students’ apparel, however, may not be appropriate to wear to school even though the 2014–2015 school year.
