Coach Terry Palapanis will be looking to Marc Warren to help marshall the defence as he did in week one, while the combination between Spanish midfield duo Juan and Raul Romero with Jeremy Cox up front will be the cornerstone of Sutherland’s attack. Their opponents APIA Leichhardt Tigers come into the game with a similar point to prove. John Calleja’s side was on the wrong side of a 3-0 thumping from Wollongong and are driven to bounce back in quick fashion. New signing Chris Payne is hoping he can kick start his goal scoring tally with his new club against the Sharks after he had a number of flawed changes in the team’s humbling 3-0 loss to the Wollongong Wolves last Sunday. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Wollongong Wolves FC 2 2 0 0 5 1 4 6 2 Sydney FC 2 1 1 0 3 2 1 4 3 Rockdale City Suns FC 2 1 1 0 2 1 1 4 4 Sydney United 58 FC 2 1 1 0 1 0 1 4 5 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 2 1 0 1 2 2 0 3 6 Blacktown City FC 2 1 0 1 1 1 0 3 7 Sutherland Sharks FC 2 1 0 1 1 1 0 3 8 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 2 1 0 1 1 3 -2 3 9 Manly United FC 2 0 1 1 2 3 -1 1 10 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0 11 Sydney Olympic FC 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0 12 Marconi Stallions FC 2 0 0 2 1 3 -2 0 NPLNSW.COM.AU 5 1ST GRADE REVIEWS Sutherland Sharks 0 v Hakoah Sydney City East 1 A solitary Jack Green strike proved the difference for Hakoah Sydney City East against Sutherland Sharks in a tight encounter at Seymour Shaw on Saturday night. In an end-to-end contest that could well have produced more goals, both sides were at times wasteful in the final third. The defining moment of the night arrived six minutes into the second half as Hakoah fullback Jack Green won the ball back on halfway and marauded into the Sharks’ penalty area, before lashing home a thunderous half-volley at the front post. Whilst the hosts tried as they might to conjure a response, they were repeatedly denied thanks to an outstanding display from their former shot-stopper Ryan Norval. The result signaled a turnaround in fortunes for both clubs: the hosts were ultimately unable to replicate the form that saw them topple reigning premiers Sydney Olympic last time out, while Hakoah recorded their first victory of the campaign following a disappointing Round 1 display against Sydney FC. APIA Leichhardt Tigers 0 v Wollongong Wolves 3 APIA Leichhardt Tigers fell to their first defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon as Wollongong Wolves’ Englishman Thomas James ran rampant on a slick surface at Lambert Park hitting a hat-trick with a 3-0 victory. The hosts started slowly, and were ultimately undone by individual mistakes which were duly punished by a striker in form. James opened the scoring midway through the first half, before adding a second and a third to complete his hat trick with twenty minutes remaining. APIA pushed in the closing stages but couldn’t apply a finishing touch to encouraging build-up work, and are left with work to do at the end of the second week of the season. It’s been a promising start for Luke Wilkshire’s troops who after two rounds have been the talk of the league hoping that they can further their victories with a tricky away trip to Sydney United 58 in round 3. 6 #NPLNSW TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol NPLNSW.COM.AU 7 PHOTO GALLERY 8 #NPLNSW PHOTO GALLERY NPLNSW.COM.AU 9 TEAM LISTS UNDER 13’S UNDER 14’S GK 1 Jamie McDonough GK 49 Finn Fristaad GK 2 Samuel Smith 50 Jordan McAllister 3 Antonio Kalabric 51 Zacharie McKelvie 4 Brandan Darke 52 Murcas Koukoutaris 5 Cameron Munro 53 Joel Cubitt 6 Christian Vujic 54 Jackson Barter 7 Hugo Mezei 55 Cooper Kerridge 8 Jack Pereira 56 Jaden Gasking 9 Jacob McLachlan 57 Gian Zinnato 11 Kristian Butkovic 58 Benjamin Caroutas 10 Lachlan Maher 59 James Ciot 12 Lucas Trajcevski 60 Ben Nanai 13 Nick Cadorin 61 Christian Radman 14 Noah Ovens 62 Johnathon Vakuata 15 Sebastian Dobre 63 Riley Fowler 16 Thomas O’Brien 64 Ryley Hollingdale UNDER 15’S UNDER 16’S GK 33 James Ryan GK 17 Smith Zac GK 34 Ward Beau 18 Karavatakis Nicholas 35 Kyriakides Arthur 19 Monoz Dylan 36 George Mavridis 20 Dearsley Luke 37 John Fotopoulos 21 Doig Ryan 38 Kaidyn Wright 22 Field Josh 39 Trelawney Brown 23 Lam Nelson 40 Moffit Kynan 24 Kilazoglou Alexander 41 Souris Brohden 25 Kizi Jordan 42 Macdonald Lachlan 26 Castle Adam 43 Michael Kokoviadis 27 Souris Evan 44 Lucas Kotevski 28 Skurtevski Taylan 45 Petitcuenot Dylan 29 Paterson Jarvis 46 Jacob Tresoglavic 30 Trovato Julian 47 Photi Jesse 31 Borbilas Dean 48 Tye McGowan 32 Mellino Rocco NPLNSW.COM.AU 11 U20’S TEAM LISTS 24 Dominic Brischetto 30 Michael Van Walsum (GK) 26 Mario Aleksic 31 Cameron Ward 27 Matthew Taverniti 32 Daniel Azzone 28 Richard Stewart 33 Peter Nichols 29 Jarrad Wiley 34 Zander Regan 30 Gjorsevski Jacob 35 Oscar Bernauer 31 James Carli 36 Nathan Mellino 32 Alexander Lopez 37 Alexander Graorovski 33 Reece Kilpin 38 Bradley Dollin 34 Jones Charlie 39 Anthony Sparacino 35 Kane Roberge 40 Zeke Prisuda 36 Harrison Tarranto 41 Jacob Ritchie 37 Finlay Hayhurst 42 Camil Abouchaaya 45 Luke Sauer 43 Gian Fiorese 44 Christopher Lountzis Coach: Nick Dimovski 45 Kashmir Stelio-Prasad Assistant Coach: Steve Gordon 46 Nikolas Blaskovic Manager: Craig Simmons 47 Miguel Da Silva 50 Harris Fotopoulos (GK) Coaches: Gerard Peacock and Matthew Michael Manager: Joe Garufi U20’S - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Blacktown City FC 2 2 0 0 7 2 5 6 2 Wollongong Wolves
